Description for Chevrolet Impala 1964
This car has been completely rebuilt from the ground up. The engine is a 454 bored and stroked to 489 cubic inches. This is a torque monster motor but idles nicely with a little lope. It has the cam lifters and heads from a 502. The heads are rectangular port cast iron with non adjustable valve train. These were all brand new when purchased from the owner. He upgraded his 502. Ignition is all MSD. The motor has Sanderson headers feeding 2 1/2 inch flowmaster exhaust system that exit in front of the back tires. The motor is topped off with a two four barrel system from edlebrock. The 489 motor has a brand new 5 speed Tremec TKO600 behind it. Has a 11" heavy duty clutch. The driveshaft is telescopic with a Billet aluminum center support with bearing. The rear end is a Moser narrowed Nascar Ford 9" with 350 gears. It has a nodular iron carrier. The suspension is fully adjustable up and down and side to side with the use of a spanner wrench. Suspension is all Global west. Front adjustable coil overs with tubular upper and lower A Frames, rear adjustable coil overs with adjustable panhard bar and adjustable banana bar.
The cars rests on Foose Nitrous mag wheels. 20 x 10 in the rear, 18 x 8.5 in the front. The brakes are 13" c5 corvette disc with c5 calipers in front with c4 13" corvette disc in the rear with cadillac Seville calipers with emergency brakes. With this combination of brakes, the car stops great.
The motor is cooled with two fans each started electrically by temperature switches located in each head. One turns on at 180 degrees the other at 195 degrees. The radiator is aluminum. Never comes close to overheating.
Interior has new headliner, seat covers, door panels, and carpeting. It has the factory tach dash, original console and an ididit steering column with 4 way flashers and a GT steering wheel.
The body of this car is in very good condition. Has a few nicks from driving. New bumpers and grille. Previously from Indiana. Chrome is in very good condition. Panel fit is very good. Runs great with no problems.
