Description for Chevrolet Other 1931
Willy Messerschmitt's creation, the Messerschmitt Bf 109 will undoubtedly go down in history as one of the most iconic fighter planes ever produced. As far back as I can remember I have been fascinated with the WWII fighter planes and their unique styling.
'Red Hills Rods & Classics' is very proud to offer you this one-of-a-kind 1931 Chevrolet 2-Door Coach, or as we lovingly dubbed it: the '1931 Chevrolet Messerschmitt Fighter'.
Everyone who walks into our showroom goes crazy when they see this beautiful Hot Rod! At the core is an original 1931 Chevrolet all steel 2-Door Coach body (California car), which was fully sandblasted & sealed. The roof was chopped 5", body channeled 4", and an original 1931 Chevrolet truck grille was used, w/ a stock rock guard customized to fit inside the grille. The headlights are original 1931 Chevrolet w/ custom mounts. After the meticulous bodywork was completed, the car was painted Gun Metal Grey, which looks outstanding on this '31 Chevrolet Coach body. Master artist, Jeff Dastrup, applied the custom pin striping & German cross artwork. The top is all new black vinyl w/ a brand new custom wood roof structure, which looks beautiful. You can walk around this ultra-cool Hot Rod a thousand times & never find a bad angle. She sits just right and has a perfect stance. The original hood & the original set of side panels, which were shortened to fit perfectly, will go w/ the car. If the new owner chooses to run the car w/ the hood, there is a custom-built air cleaner assembly, which sits much lower to fit under the hood, and will be included in the sale. I prefer to show the car w/ the motor exposed & open, but it's all a matter of preference.
The body sits on an original 1931 Chevrolet frame with features that include: Super Bell 4” dropped axle, 1942 wishbone front suspension, So-Cal Speed Shop gas shocks w/ ’56 Ford shock mounts, 1940 spindles w/ Speedway adaptor kit to fit ’56 Ford hub & Bendix-style brakes, So-Cal Speed Shop steering dampener, Coil-overs w/ 4-Link set-up in the rear, & new 18-gallon gas tank.
Open up the driver’s door and you will find an interior that is simple, comfortable & highly functional. I am 6’2” & 210 Lbs., and I fit comfortably inside this Hot Rod. Interior features include: Custom-built black vinyl bucket seats w/ arm rest section, matching black vinyl door panels, matching black vinyl kick panels, beautiful brand new custom wood roof structure, original 1931 Chevrolet dash w/ customized lower section, full set of (5) So-Cal gauges, B&M Street Rod automatic shifter w/ one-off skull shift knob, ’54 Chevrolet chopped down steering column, original style front windshield w/ crank, original door hinges, original door handles, original window cranks, electric rear window w/ switch on driver’s kick panel, & new black loop carpeting throughout. Again, simple, clean & just right for this beautiful 1931 Chevrolet 2-Door Coach.
This mean machine is powered by a 400ci SBC motor (.30 over), linked to a TH-350 automatic transmission, which feeds power to a '96 Ford 8.8" rear axle w/ 3.55 gears. Features include: Edelbrock 650cfm carburetor, Weiand intake manifold, mild street-cam, Cal Custom style finned valve covers, Cal Custom style finned air cleaner, finned aluminum oil pan, finned aluminum transmission oil pan, chrome flywheel dust cover, Flowtech chrome ram’s horn exhaust manifolds, chrome alternator, & new aluminum radiator w/ billet overflow tube. She starts, idles, runs & performs beautifully in every way, is an absolute blast to drive, and is very FAST! She sits on 1940 Ford 16” steel wheels w/ chrome hubcaps, wrapped with Firestone Deluxe Champion tires, which really completes the look.
