This may be the most loved Chevy of all time. The one we have for you is not only a Bel Air but it’s also a convertible. It originated from South Texas before coming to Maryville TN. Once here Crows Auto Restoration pulled it all apart and set the body off the frame and built one of the nicest drop top 55’s in the country. It was a center fold in the Chevy Classic Magazine in April of 2009 when it was built. In the paragraphs to follow we will give a brief description of the exterior interior and heartbeat of the Chevy but first we would like to tell you a little about us.
Smoky Mountain Traders is a classic car dealer in east Tennessee. We are family owned operated and own our entire inventory no consignments and only deal in muscle cars and vintage auto. You can count on us to have 70 to 80 cars at all times. We don’t have a big show room that our customers would otherwise pay for. So that’s how we can sell for less than other dealers. To contact us for more information pictures or any questions call our office at (865)988-8088 or visit our SmokyMountainTraders website.
We will start off with the exterior of the Bel Air. This is a complete frame off resto where the body was pulled down to bare metal. What little work was needed was done before the body was bolted back together to ensure a good fit of the panels. It was then broke down and painted in the base coat clear coat. Everything was then covered in the Porsche Red including the floors. It had hours of buffing and polishing before being put back together with all new seals and body bushings. The glass was cleaned checked and the bad was replaced before installation. All the stainless was either replaced or cleaned and buffed to a like new finish and all the chrome was also replaced. Also new weather stripping around the doors and trunk as well as under the hood was installed. To complement to the Red it has a new Power Top that’s covered with the Tan Canvas that has the Tan Boot to match. The final touch to complete the look is a set of 17” American Racing Wheels were put on.
Next we will take a look at the interior of the Convertible. On the inside the same eye for detail is evident. It’s all done in two tone leather with the dash and door trim being done to match the exterior. It has the bench seats that are done in Light Tan with a Darker Tan Inserts with the door panels being done to match. When you look at the dash it has Classic Instrument Gauges with all new stainless trim. The air ride controls are mounted in the glove box to keep everything with a clean look. The steering column has been upgraded to a Billet Tilt with a Custom Wheel wrapped in the Matching Tan Leather. Also seat belts were added to keep you legal in all 50 States. Inside the trunk it was custom done to match the interior of the car.
Finally we will take a look at the heartbeat of the Chevy. Under the hood it has killer eyes if you like shine then this is for you. The firewall is painted body color with the radiator support and inner fenders being black. The engine is a 454 Crate Motor that’s mated to a 400 Turbo Trans. It’s dressed with a Polished Aluminum Intake along with Polished Flame Valve Covers and Breather. The Alternator is chrome with Polished Aluminum Pulleys and AC Compressor. To ensure it runs cool it has a 4 Core Aluminum Radiator and electric fans. They installed a show Master Cylinder and Booster that feeds the disc brakes. When you look under this ride it’s all done right. The frame was blasted slicked down had street rod braces added and was painted gloss black before adding the air ride on all 4 corners. All new bushings with new fuels lines and brakes lines were installed. Also it has a new fuel tank and an electric fuel pump. Nothing was left untouched all the way to the driveshaft that was custom painted.
