Description for Chevrolet Blazer 1972
The truck comes with an original double wall hard top and Newly recovered factory seats in one of 3 color combos!
Up for auction here is my 1972 GMC Jimmy in beautifully frame-off resto modcondition. I am a professional mechanic specializingin high performance modern builds and classic restorations. This truck has been my personal daily driver for the past couple years. I wanted to build a Jimmy over a Blazer or Bronco both due to the better looking grill than a Blazer and the wider footprint than the Bronco. After building many of both I wanted a truck I could run topless and clean easily so I designed the truck with specialized rockers and floor pans then finished the interior floor with bedliner for easy cleaning after a day at the beach or wheeling. If you've ever had a topless truck and tried to get the dust leaves and debris out of the carpet after even one day driving around then you know what I mean. With a bedliner floor just open up the tailgate and blow or hose it out and you're done personally I'll never own a truck I would run topless ever and have carpet and neither would most of my customers. That being said a carpet kit can still be installed easily. Thebedliner also acts as a sound deadener. The original double wall hard top is currently being resurfaced in black and I will have pictures of it on the truck in the next couple days. As to the seats they area set of 72 buckets with rear bench andthe winning bidder will get to choose between three hounds tooth color combos that came on the deluxe models in 72. Between the previous owner and myself there have beentens ofthousands of dollars put into this truck and moreparts/labor than I can even remember but I will try and hit the highlights:
Sandblasted frame and many parts including the radiator support axlesbrackets emergency brakegas/brakepedal assemblies and more (over 40hrs of sandblasting)
Anti corrosion coating on axles frame radiatorcore support ( Many people use Por 15 but it looks terrible to me. I went instead with a more labor intensemulti stage system for the glossy look you see in the pics and tough as nails protection)
Axlesframe steering column refinished ingloss blackurethane
Engine is a GMCrate 350with approximately 45k miles.Received all new gasketsseals plugs wires cap rotor engine enamel fluids and filters less than 100 miles ago.
Edelbrock 650cfm carb w/ electric chokeEdelbrock Torker II intake manifold
Edelbrock valve covers air cleaner chrome timing cover
Transmission was rebuilt by previousowner approximately 40kmiles ago.
New chromeGMC frontgrillbezels and trim mirrorsexterior door handles locks
Shavedtrim antenna fuel fill neck badges for aunique clean look
4"Rough Country front and rear leaf spring lift kit with 4 N20 gas shocks (not the cheap block kit that most Blazer owners install)

Paint is Gloss Black single stagefor a DEEP shiny black that only single stage can produce!
Thereare so many parts and countless hours of fabrication bodywork mechanical work and so on that it would take far too long to list. I spent a few hundred dollars on nuts bolts and fasteners alone! The build is nearly 100% complete in my opinion.I have ordered a new weather stripping kit for the truck and new sweeps for the door glass. As for the paint it is beautiful but not perfect yet you have to be right up on the truck to see any of the slight imperfections. The truck is an original A/C truck but I have not bothered to restore the system although the heater works great. Personally I never had a need for A/C being that I always drove the truck topless. I have new turn signal lenses for the front grill and I did not order the front bumper lights since they can be used as day time running lights off road lighting or fog lights. I figured the new owner couldinstall what they wanted any of those three can be done for under$300.Suffice it to saythis build isvery clean very costly and it is highly unlikelythat you'llsee another frame off like it on ebay for a long time. The last Blazer that was comparable sold through Mecum Auctions for $40000last year and wasn't as clean as this one. I know I have just given a brief description here so if you would like more information please feel free to contact me Dave at 775-338-3300.
The truck is for sale both locally and nationally and therefore I reserve the right to end this auction at any time. The description is for informational purposes and does not replace personal inspections. The truck is sold as-is and no concessions will be made at time of pick up ordelivery so please do your due diligence prior to bidding.
On May-23-15 at 22:17:39 PDT seller added the following information:To answer some questions that I've gotten a lot of:
Q. Do the seats NEED recovering?
A. No they do not need recovering but at this level of build why wouldn't you? That's why I am glad to cover the material cost and recovering in the 3 deluxe combos.
Q. Does the truck have a body lift?
A. No it does not. The body bushings were all replaced however with an energy suspension body bushing set. I have uploaded a photo that shows some of the mounts but ALL body bushings/mountsare better than factory. All body mount hardware wasupgraded at the same time. Also the truck has been equipped with a custom raised steering arm and steering link assembly to accommodate the lift kit.
Q. How difficult is the truck to get into?
A. Not difficult to me or my wife at all. I am a little less than 6' and my wife is mid 5'in height. Neither of us have any difficulty getting in or out. The truck is currently on 32" tall tires but can go up to at least35" tires with the current lift.
Q. How much do you have into the truck in professional labor?
A. Since this was my personal truck I put a great deal more time into it's build. The actual cost would be far beyond what I could ever hope to get from this truck probably well over $40k in pro. labor alone.
Q. How much would an A/C system cost to install?
A. I can get a full A/C system for around $1200 and the refrigerant would be another $147. Depending on the sale price purchase price of the truck I might be willing to install the A/C system at no cost. Call me to talk this over.
On May-24-15 at 16:59:31 PDT seller added the following information:Added more photos with the top on today. You might notice right now that the top is white inside but the interior of the top is being painted gloss black and will be finished latertoday.I was asked if in one of the photos there is rust on the underside of the floor pansbut NO there is not. It is only lighting the underside of the truck was sandblasted and refinished ina combination of bedliner and/or gloss black enamel. The wheel wells are finished in a rock guard coating also.As for the rearhatch itis still being refinishedand will be done tomorrow. I have also uploaded a sample photo of what the seats look like with the houndstooth pattern in black and white. Winning bidder will get to choose between black and either red white orange green or blue. I will also include a black center console as shown in the photo if my current reserve is met. Thanks for all the interest and calls please feel free to call and ask any questions you have!
