Description for Chevrolet El Camino 1978

Guys this is a 1978 GMC Caballero the brother to the El Camino. Change emblems and you couldn't tell the difference between them kinda like the pickups. If your looking for a solid one this is it. This is probably the most rust free one of these ive ever seen for its age. This car has been off the road for a few years but it was stored on a hard top surface and that's what saved the body im sure. The body is super solid and I cant find any body filler anywhere on it. The complete body has no holes in it anywhere fenders doors bed sides etc all great. There may be a small dent or dingbut norust through. Underneath is the same way guys no rust through anywhere frame is super solid also. The front fenders both have very small dents in them for some reason about the same area nothing major just small area easy fix. As I said NO rust anywhere on them. The hood is good again no rust. Both doors are solid and have no rust through on them either. The bottoms of them are good also. The bed sides are both nice and do not have any rust issues. The tailgate is great also. The seal where it closes on the bed floor is still there. The bed floor is rust free and has only a very few minor dings in it no big dents at all. The roof of the car is in great condition also. Let me mention that the door glass works smooth as it did the day it was new and the doors shut very nice also. All the body trim is there except for a piece on the right rear corner of the bed. Also the trim is in pretty good condition and the pieces on top of the bed are some of the best ive seen on a car this age. Thecar was originally tan and brown but was changed to black at some time. The paint is decent but on a scale of 1 to 10 its probably a five. It shines good but the finish isn't real nice good for a daily driver. The wheels are pretty nice have all the trim rings and center caps on them. The tires are fair but should be replaced before a long drive. The interior of this car needs some work to be nice. The headliner is coming loose the dash pad has some cracks from age. The carpet isn't all torn up but it is pretty worn and dirty. The door panels are good the lower part is deteriorating some but is paintable to make it nice. The windshield is cracked Guardian will install a new one for around $160 at your home. I think the gauges all work not sure how accurate but think all of them do work. The car also has the factory tach in it also. The odometer shows 68467 but im sure its probably over. I am selling it as true miles unknown just to be safe on a car this age theres no way to be sure. The seats need cleaned and the bottom of the drivers side is torn up passenger side needs cleaned and they need dyed. The engine in this Caballero is a 305. I was told it was a new GM crate engine installed at some time but I cannot be sure of that. The engine has the decals on the valve covers like a crate engine but that's all I know. The engine runs good idles good with no noises at all but the old carburetor isn't much. I had a friend rebuild it but its just worn out I think It idles good and goes down the road ok but its slow taking the gas acts like its starving or something. It is a 2 barrel so a replacement shuldnt be much. The engine does sound good with no miss or any strange noise or problems. The car has AC but the clutch on the compressor is bad all the parts for the AC are there. The transmission was supposedly rebuilt awhile back also but again im just going from what ive been told. It does shift great with no leaks. The exhaust sound ok with no leaks and is complete. Brakes work fine. The bumpers are in pretty good condition not damaged but showing a little wear from age. The front one is pretty nice. The right rear taillight is cracked. This GMC comes with a clean and clear VA title. Guys as I said in the beginning this car has been parked for a few years but it starts right up and shifts as it should. Its a great project car or just check it out a little and drive it as is. If you want to drive this car home that's up to you but I recommend having it checked real good before doing so. I have the name of a good shipper if you need one. I will work with a shipper if you know of one yourself. Don't miss out on this car its one of the most solid bodies ive ever seen. You can have it repainted to be nice or its fine as a daily driver as it is. My buy it now price is super low so don't miss out waiting till the last minute to bid as mu auctions usually end early. Thanks for reading my novel and if you have any questions just ask. The car can sit here awhile if its paid for in full at auctions end. If you have less than 10 positive feedback you must contact me before bidding or I may cancel your bid. Thanks for looking and good luck should you decide to bid on this super solid GMC Caballero.
