Description for Chevrolet Monte Carlo 1970
1970 Chevy Monte Carlo SS restoration project. As far as I can tell this is atrue SS car but I do not have a build sheet. The car is not running and is in need of a complete restoration. It currently has a running (from what I've been told) non-original 454 engine with TH400 automatic transmission. I have not checked any numbers to verify this just what I was able to find out. Ipurchased this car recently at an auction. Supposedly the car will start but will not stay running. I have not tried to start it. I bought it as a project car. The undercarriage/frame is super solid not rust or rot that I can see. The interior is complete but needs a complete make-over. The dash has been cut up at one time for an aftermarket radio. Some items this car does have that help verify what is believed to be a factory SS is it does have the rear shock protector covers. Also, n the left side of the engine compartment there is suppose to be a leveling compressor. It is missing but you can see where it was once bolted to. It has the correct SS side moldings and what looks to me to be the larger diameter front sway bar. The rear axle is a 12 bolt believed to be original?I removed the passenger seat that was in decent condition as well as the rear bottom seat base. The interior is completeminus carpet. The floorboards are very solid with just a few pinholes and light scaling. (broken console door) along with a bunch of other parts such as headlights trimpieces and rear taillights quarter ends with tail lights. The horseshoe type shifter for the transmission is not attached but is included. Both quarter panels needreplacing as well as driver side door that has been hit. It does not open. The frame at the driver door is not hit and appears clean. The right rear hit just caught part of the frame but it is still solid. This would make a sweet ride once restored. As far as I can tell be some decoding of the ID tag is this car was originally black with a tan interior. The rally wheels are in excellent condition. The tires are dry rotted and two will not hold air. Theoriginal steering wheel is gone and replaced with a later model. The State of Maine does not issue titles for vehicles this old. Sold with a Bill of Sale only so please check with your respective state as to what you will need to register the car.Can be seen most anytime by appointment. It deserves to be restoredand put back on the road.Feel free to ask any and all questions I will get back with you within 24 hours. Buyer needs to make own transportation arrangements.
