Description for Chrysler Imperial 1959
Supposedly two young local brothers hitchhiked from Oklahoma to California many years ago in search of adventure. The story is they came wheeling back into town in this '59 Chrysler Imperial they found in California. Before the second one died of old age he gave it to a family friend here in Oklahoma. The car hadn't been driven since 1999 and the family friend finally decided he wasn't going to get around to bringing the car back up to speed. I bought the car from him. It didn't take much to run it and drive it. The car was first run on a remote fuel tank. then we flushed the car tank and hooked it back up. The car will run on it's own tank and the fuel flows freely but fuel pressure is erratic--like a weak or damaged pump diaphragm. I've got a new fuel pump for it but haven't installed it yet. Oil and filter were changed and the chassis was lubed. The front brakes got new wheel cylinders. shoes. and hoses. The car stops now but the rear brakes should probably be freshened up. too. The car had been sitting unused for approximately 15 years and will undoubtedly need other things to bring it back up to full speed. There are rust areas in the rocker panels right in front of each rear wheel. Most everything else looks pretty solid. The odometer shows 81. 93 miles but I would expect it's not the first time around. due to it's age if nothing else. The interior is mostly intact with a few tears in the front seat. The left front door and fender look to have been replaced some time in the car's life but have aged gracefully along with the rest of the car. It's a 413 V-8. automatic. with full power and factory air conditioning. Tag and title are up to date and in my name. The Imperial is being sold AS-IS. WHERE-IS with no warranty expressed or implied. Any sale is final and no take-backs. no returns. It can remain here for a reasonable time after a purchase is completed and I'll be happy to assist with loading of your trailer or that of your transporter. I would NOT recommend trying to drive it due to the fact it really should have a thorough check-up after such a long nap. I reserve the right to remove it from the sale at any time. This is not a task for the faint of heart. but it is a good car for good value and shouldn't take much to get back on the road. I've been told that. back in the day. these cars were banned from many Demolition Derby venues due to their unwillingness to die. and the fact they tended to destroy anything they hit. Your mileage may vary and that is NOT a serving suggestion!Again. arrange your own shipping but I'll be happy to assist with storage and loading. Zip code here is 74059. A deposit of $500 dollars is required from the winning bidder within 48 hours of auction close. with the full balance due within 7 days of the auction close. Please call me. Stu. at 405-714-8725 with any questions or if you want to make arrangements to leave the car here more than a couple weeks after the auction. Thanks!
