THERE ARE A COUPLE OF THINGS I HAVE TO SAY UP FRONT. firstly we are leaving for europe for 12 days starting on the 18th of this month.the car needs to be paid for before we leave. I HAVE A CLEAR SOUTH CAROLINA TITLE IN MY NAME. once the car is paid for IN FULL it can sit warm and dry in my warehouse for up to 60 days.theONLYforms of payment i will accept are either a bank to bank wire transfer or cash in person at pick up. i repeat the car MUST be fully paid for by the 18th of september. i cannot concern myself with where you live or what shipping will cost you or anything regarding your schedule or if your wife will allow you to buy it et cetera. if you can`t pay for the car IN FULL by the 18th then simply do not bid.
now thats out of the way lets get on with this really cool car whichis definitely not my usual thing but it is an outrageous car. i recently bought a small collection of cars and am selling off what i have no need of, his grand old lady is one of them. sheRUNS GREATand starts very easily hot or cold. the big 413 V8 runs strong and as sweet as you please with awesome low down power. the old girl has hardly been driven for about four years. the brakes still work, hough i would definitely have them checked over. right now you can drive her around the yard or up onto a trailer. the transmission drops straight into gear without any hesitation whatsoever the second you push any of the gear selector buttons and you can feel the car sort of straining at the leash to get going! there is a lot of stale gas in the tank so we have it running off of a gallon can under the hood. the coolant had good green antifreeze in it when i got the car and all the fluid levels were up.the previous owner died very unexpectedly in 2011 and the car just sat and sat along with all his other cars and property until his estate was settled. the odometer reads 34,420 but the title is mileage exempt because of the cars age.
this car is REALLY loaded and has the following options: DUAL air conditioning front and rear, quare steering wheel, ower seat, ower windows, ower door locks, ower vent windows, irror-matic auto dimming interior mirror, ruise control, ower antenna, ual fender mirrors and tri-tone horns. the car was repainted once in 1979 for the movie 'THE GREAT SANTINI' starring ROBERT DUVAL and based on the novel by pat conroy. there are some great shots of the car in the movie which was filmed in beaufort SC very near where i bought it. the interior is completely original and as you can see the blue leather is still good with no rips or tears and the leather is supple not hard as a rock. the front seat cushion still has most of the clear plastic dealer installed seat cover on it. the cloth seat inserts have started to come unpicked on the seams and will need replacing. the car is VERY VERY SOLID. the floor pans, loor braces and trunk floor are 99% perfect while the outer body has only a tiny bit of corrosion at the very bottom of the right rear quarter panel and a spot about 7 or so inches long next to the trunk sealing gasket on the body. see close up picture`s. anyone looking seriously at this car knows that corrosion is the biggest problem with 1957 through 1963 chrysler products. this car is very good indeed as it came from out west. if you want any close up pictures of the floors or trunk floor just email me and i will take whatever you need. you can reach me or text on eight six four six one seven one five nine six until ten at night eastern standard time. i am happy to accommodate and encourage any inspection you like. i will be more than happy to answer any questions you may have about the car.
all the glass is EXCELLENT which means a lot on one of the these old girls. the dash pad is in BEAUTIFUL CONDITION as you can see in the pictures. there is some touch paint work around the gauge cluster that really should be redone properly, ut its an easy fix. all four door panels have been recovered but the rest of the interior is 100% original. i have included a picture of two of the four door panels but all four look exactly the same. the car has a very nice headliner, ugs and interior chrome. the four door panels need to be put back on along with the interior door brightwork and switches. there is a box of brand new correct chrysler clips for the restored door panels. it will not take much to do what`s needed on the mechanicals and be cruising around in a running driving car again!
this is only the 5th 1960 IMPERIAL LE BARON to be listed on ebay in the last 15 YEARS! its a very rare car. there have been quite a few 60 imperials but ONLY FIVE LE BARONS listed since 2001.
there is no lock cylinder in the trunk lock so you have to open it with a screw driver. i did get new keys cut for the glovebox and trunk but the new lock cylinders need to be fitted to the car. the car HAS A CLEAN SOUTH CAROLINA TITLE IN MY NAME and exporting her oversea`s is no problem at all as i have done it many times already.
to sum up this old girl needs to have the brakes and fuel system gone through to be drivable on the open road again. yes you can drive it up onto a trailer but you would certainly not want to drive it home. though i do know a local guy who is a very good mechanic and he can fix anything that needs attention to make the car a reliable driver. she is very solid and one of the most important things as far as i am concerned is that she is all original apart from one repaint for her movie role. the original color is MOONSTONE BLUE so i am told. the air breather is missing the top lid and the right stainless steel rocker panel trim is missing. the antenna is stuck in the up position BUT there is another antenna that goes with the car, ot sure if it works. there is a ding in the right front fender spear.
