Description for Chrysler New Yorker 1953
1953 Chrysler New Yorker WagonOne of approximately 1200 built. This car was owned by 2 sisters in Coeur D'alene Idaho and then to a gentlemen who owned franchise automotive repair shops in southern California.I purchase this car in 2011 and brought it to the east coast. When I got the car we wentthrough it totally and did a complete mechanicalrestoration. This is one of the best running cars I have ever owned. It can sit for months on end and start right up. It drives strait and true. Sounds great, specially with the cam anddual exhaust. It has plenty of power to run at highway speeds, ery dependable. I have taken it on trips of over 250 miles without anyproblems. I would not hesitate to drive this anywhere. The car looks great. As stated below there aresome chips and scratches in the paint but still the car looks good. Very stately, specially with the color combination. This is a very rare car with no more than a dozen on the road. The only reason I am selling this car is that I am moving to the West Coast and do not want to transport all of the cars I have. I have a 70 Dodge D100 Shortbed Sweptline pickup on Ebay now.The work is as follows:1. Motor rebuilt using Hotheads parts, eads redone, ew Iskie 270 Cam, ifters, djustable pushrods, tc. 2. The 2nd owner replaced the original trans with a 727 automatic. We wentthrough this andserviced it as needed.3. New starter.4. An original, ery rare, 954 4 Barrel intake.5. New Edelbrock 600 carb.6. All new brakes including wheel cylinders, rake pads, prings, tc.7. All newwheel bearings both front and rear.8. Newdual exhaust with smittymufflers.9. Front end alignment.10. Replace any bad wiring.11. Front end alignment.12. New set of Hobby Car exact replicas of Chrysler wire wheels.13. New Wide White Radials from Diamond Classics.14. Complete detailing of the underside of the car including paint and undercoating.15. New fuel sender.16. Generator rebuilt.17. New battery. The overallcondition of this car is an excellent driver. The paint is good, here are some chips and scratches but to me not worth the time or expense to replace. It has a greatappearance and color combination. The interior is very nice. The dash is almost perfect. The chrome on the dash is very nice. All the original 6 voltgauges work including fuel. All interior and exterior lights work. The seats were recovered prior to me owning it and I don't like the looks so I bought from SMS what is believed to be the correctpattern and material which I will include in the sale. The Woodwork in the rear is as nice as I have seen.Carpet was replaced prior and is very nice.Headliner is as far as I candetermine original and in very good shape.Steering wheel has a few cracks but still overall very nice.Glass is good.Weatherstripping is good.Rear chrome has all been redone. Front chrome is in very good original shape. The NewYork emblem on the front hood is missing, just never got around to locating one.
I am sure I have missed something, encourage and on site inspection, ny questions and or arrangements please call Rob Skinner at 908-403-0568.The car is located in Stewartsville, J 08886.
