Description for Chrysler Windsor Deluxe 1953
Amidst the dul, mundane and simply uninteresting automobiles that travel our roads today, most of which will never become a "Classic", this 1953 Chrysler Windsor DeLuxe Club Coupe is a unique, historically interesting, 1953 being the first year to add 20 new features to the platform, and fun sight whencruising down today's highways and roads. It certainly turns head with its gorgeous Nassau blue and white finish and style, and has earned its place among all the different and architecturally interesting cars built prior to 1960. Clearly, art imitated life of these delightful and interesting cars in their designand architecture actually emulating the fashions, trends, and innovative technology of its period. Additionally, these Chrysler Coupes were raced inthe Carrera Panamericana Road Race which ran the consecutive years from 1950-1954 in Mexico, (see enclosed photo) now resurrected as a timed rally, similar to the Italian Mille Miglia,Targa, Florio in Italy, and Hemming's Great Race, among many others. This is a fabulous car based on its vintage to qualify and enter intomany of these historical events and rallies, which have currently been resurrected. Also, a terrific entry into many car shows. When was the last time you saw one.??Representing an older, very nicely done restoration with nice paint and sheet metal, with some flaws expected for the vintage, it's a wonderful driver quality car which can be driven with confidenc, and currently within the bounds of affordability, in the collector car market, where prices are escalating, given the factthey are wonderful investments, a hard asset which can be enjoyed. Refer to Hagerty Valuations for current market value for a nice #2 car.
a rebuilt at time of restoration, 264.5 cubic inch L-Head "Spitfire" inline, 5 main bearing, six cylinder, known for its durability, and coupled to a four speed Fluid Drive transmission,(manual or automatic feature and does have a clutch if you choose the manual option)it runs and drives nicely, starting with the first turn of the ignition key, with no unusual noises or smoke.
The restored interior is in excellent condition, as is all the stainless and most of the chrome, with the exception of the bumpers which have some minor pitting and 62 years of wear. All the lights, switches, and gauges, with the exception of a lazyfuel gauge, function as originally designed. The AM radio is inoperative. Overall the glass is very nice with the exception of the right andleft rear wing windows which are cracked,(easily replaced) and some very minor peripheral clouding at the windshield edge at the intersection of the left A pillar. The trimmed in chrome 3 piece rear window is very unique and interesting. The windows function very nicely. Tires are older matching 15" bias ply wide whitewalls, with great tread, and the fact that the Windsor DeLuxe Coupe has powering steering makes is much easier to steer at all speeds.
Recent servicing entailed new spark plugs, cap, wires, rotor, engine and transmission oil replacement, cartridge oil filter, (10/40 Pennzoil w/ZDDP additive) new muffler, new fuel filter, complete chassis lubrication, rebuilt brake master cylinder and brake fluid flush, coolant flush (with the correct green antifreeze), and much much more.
** Please Note: In conclusion, the 1953 Chrysler Windsor DeLuxe Coupe will be sold as is,where is, with no warranty expressed or implied, and with a clear document and assignment of ownership. Inspections are welcome by either the prospective buyer, or a "qualified" representative of your choosing. Inspection as acondition of sale, afterthe auction end will not be permitted.
I additionally reserve the right to end the sale early, given theChrysler Windsor is for sale on other International Classic car venues, locally, or should I receive and accept a realistic offer, to which I will end the auction. You are welcome to make an offe, but kindly refer to classic car valuation websites, such as Hagerty Valuation and NADA,to get an idea as to current market values for a very nice high #2 car as this one represents. A helpful hint, the reserve is lower than the Hagertylisting for a "Good #3) car.
Please understand this is nota "project", compromised, rust bucket, or marginally running car, which are usually advertised from $5K to $7K, but restored to a very nice level, monetarily well in excess of what my reserve is. To buy one in this price range would require thousands of dollars in restoration to place it at the level, condition, and integrity of this Windsor DeLuxe Coupe.
Thank you for the interest, enjoy the pictures, and feel free to call with any questions.
