Description for Chrysler Imperial 1961
NO RESERVE -1961 Chrysler Imperial, King Of The Fins!
1961 Imperial, 78k, 413 V8. Options include a/c, power windows, power seats, power steering and power brakes.
I don't have much information on the car, it was purchased from the previous owner's son. It came from Virginia. I was told the paint and engine were done about five years ago, many new parts visible. The car has sat garaged for five years or so until I purchased it last spring. The underhood wiring is incomplete and the car will need some electrical work before it will run as well as a gas tank, it had been removed by the previous owner. When I first got the car my mechanic put some Marvel in each cylinder and got the engine to crank by jumping out the starter but we did not try to turn it over. It cranked nice and quick and sounded good. The brakes have no pressure but the emergency brake does work.
The door panels had been removed to be reupholstered, everything is present and in the trunk including the hubcaps. The seats are in the car but not bolted down, they're in need of reupholstering as well. All screws, fasteners and trim are bagged and labeled. Many extra parts come with the car, including a extra rear bumper. The only trim item missing is the Flight Sweep ring on the trunk.
The interior is in decent shape, headliner, dashboard and visors good, the carpet is out and the floor is solid, no signs of rust or previous repair. The body and undercarriage are solid overall, floors and frame good, dual exhaust old but complete. The glass is in good shape, I would assume the power window motors need replacing. The headlights, tail lights and horn work. The ignition switch feels broken, a replacement could be the simple first step to beginning to get the car running.
I had looked for awhile for a 61 Imperial, it's one of a kind.It shouldn't take much to get back on the road.
I reserve the right to end the auction early as the Imperial is for sale locally and I'm open to reasonable buy it now offers as well.I can assist with shipping in the USA or internationally if necessary, cost of shipping to paid by buyer. I can recommend a door to door auto shipper I've used in the past; they're professional, reliable and have great rates.
Rare classic Mopar which will only appreciate in value!
