Description for Chrysler Other 1926
On offer here is a beautiful 1926 Chrysler F58 Five Passenger Touring Convertible showing 34,345 miles offered by a private collector in Kansas City who is now looking to thin out his collection of over 50 years! The Chrysler Corporation was officially founded in 1925 after Water P. Chrysler took on the reorganization of the ailing Maxwell Motor Company. Development of an all new model was already underway as Mr. Chrysler had the vision of a mass-market car that was higher quality than a Ford and less expensive than a Buick. Production of the Model F58 began in December of 1925, a direct descendant of the Maxwell, and named for its effortless cruising speed of 58 miles an hour! Chrysler brochures boasted that the four cylinder five passenger convertible offered three qualities found in no other car-58 miles per hour, 2 to 25 MPH in 8 seconds flat and 25 miles per gallon!Surviving F58s are rare and it’s believed by MOPAR enthusiasts that this car was the genesis of the Chrysler brand. The 186 CID four cylinder starts easily with the original foot starter and runs well. The 3 speed transmission powers the car smoothly through the gears making this a good candidate for Parade duty as well as cruise nights. Exterior pics show a glossy finish from a previous restoration done to a high level that is showing minor nicks and chips from being driven and enjoyed and while this car does run and drive, there are a few issues that need to be addressed-there is an exhaust leak, the windshield is cracked in the corner on the drivers side and the brakes should stop better than they do. In fact, we recommend that a full brake service be done first thing by the next owner. It will need to be completely serviced and gone through before any extended driving to ensure safety and reliability.Interior pics show a very nice interior restored to a high level and ready for top down cruising on a sunny afternoon! Underside pics reveal a solid chassis that still shows well from the restoration. If you're looking for a very good example of the 1926 Chrysler F58 Touring Convertible for a Museum Quality restoration, Hot Rod Project or Advertising and Promotional use, you won't find a better example that’s priced to sell! With any additional questions, please call Frank Thompson at 913.269.6513!
