Description for Chrysler New Yorker 1980
I bought this one family owned New Yorker several years ago and it's gotta go. The car was repainted in the original 1 stage Dark Walnut Metallic which I believe was a New Yorker only color in 1980. This is the 5th Avenue edition of which less than 4200 were made. It is an R body and is recognized as the last of the full size Chrysler Corp cars. a 360 cubic inch engine and the 904 automatic transmission which has been rebuilt. This was the top of the line Chrysler in 1980. The good. it runs. drives. starts and is both licensed and insured. It won an award at the local car show last October. The car looks good and in addition to the rebuilt transmission. it also has a new headliner. visor covers and all the fabric covered interior trim. Radio (am/fm 8 track with power antenna) works but I'm not sure about the 8 track. I never tried it and I don't have any. Hideaway headlights work without any problem. The vinyl roof is like new and is in an alligator grain material. I drove the car from PA to SC a few years back and it ran like a charm and delivered 20 mpg. The not as good. The car will need tires before it is driven any distance. Tires are probably 15 years old. They hold air. but I wouldn't trust them at speed. AC compressor comes on but blows warm. Interior is all leather but the bolster on the driver's side is worn. Forgot to take a pic of that but I'm sure I have an older picture if you need to see it. Car idles very high when started. The lean burn computer was disconnected before I bought the car and replaced by the factory electronic ignition module. It will hesitate slightly when you accelerate briskly but then takes off like a scalded cat. Performance is more than adequate. I believe it either needs a carb rebuild/replacement (2bbl) or there may be some vacuum lines of questionable integrity. The driver's window will not go up. The motor works so it's something to do with the regulator. The car is in Loris. SC (outside Myrtle Beach) and is listed locally. Auction may be terminated at seller's discretion if it is sold locally. A 1980 Chrysler Factory Service Manual will come with the car. If you're local and want to see/drive it. that would be fine.
