Description for Chrysler New Yorker 1977
I bought this car from the nephew of the original owner.he stated the car was driven only on weekends to church and on special occasions by his uncle who was a Detroit cop who brought his patrol car home daily while his wife rode the bus to run errands. the car sat a while in a barn then outside when the nephew owned it.I pulled the gas tank because the fuel system was clogging up regularly, tank needs to be dipped and sealed, rubber pieces for the filler neck fell apart, sender was corroded away.
The car is set up with a gallon gas jug under the hood with an electric fuel pump drawing fuel to move the car around.
Runs, steers, moves and stops.
Needs a windshield, it was shattered when I aquired the car
Everything on the car is original, all hoses on the engine, brake hoses (dated 1977), plug wires (dated 1977), the tires on the car are original and hold air very well, the spare tire was never used and still has factory numbering/markings.
Factory 8 track player works like new as does the am/fm stereo and power antenna.
The 400 V8 engine runs pretty good for having original stuff on it except the original thermoquad carb was replaced with a 73 thermoquad and the lean burn system wasdisabled and a conventional electric igntion was installed from an older chrysler. The factory exhaust is still on the car but is rusted apart in areas and is loud.
Theres rust on the LR 1/4 panel in the back, some on the door seams, the metal inner front fender liners are rusted. This car can be restored to original condition and the value will increase with the investment, I have not seen many if any black on black versions of this car in coupe form and the vinyl top is different from what Ive seen.
I want to sell it because of the usual reasons, too many projects, not enough room or enough cash which I plan to use on my other vehicles.
I believe the asking price reflects the true value of the car and Im losing money on it. These 70's luxury land yachts are gaining interest and their values are going up and you can make some cash on fixing it up, just do the research on ebay alone (I have been for over 10 years)
