This is a great example of what many consider to be the best year of the famous Chrysler 300 Letter Car series that began in 1955. Standard equipment includes power steering and brakes, electroluminescent lighted Astradome dash cluster with console mounted tachometer and beige leather interior with full length console and swivel bucket seats. Correct Carter 2705S 4 barrel carbs were rebuilt and tuned on the car by Jeff Carter of JC Auto in Mountlake Terrace, WA. Exterior: Always a west coast car. Sold new by J. E. French Co. in Oakland, California. It was already being displayed at a classic car picnic on August 18,1974 with a dash plaque to prove it. No patch panels in the body or floor. Painted with a single stage urethane enamel for a correct 60's appearance. Original color was white. Nearly all brightwork was replated or polished, including bumpers, grille surround and side emblem housings. New reproduction rear license plate trim. NOS front grille bar. Two vintage quality tune up kits by Ampco. Spare Atlas voltage regulator in the original box. Spare parking brake housing, drum and shoes. Second 'red ball' antenna mast. Large assortment of books, magazines and club publications on the Chrysler 300 Letter Cars and the 300F. And the passenger side mirror, original radio and steering wheel previously mentioned.
The dash clock started making an intermittent grinding noise so I disconnected it. I believe JC can now convert it to quartz. And the vacuum operated windshield washer doesn't work correctly. A 61 Chrysler washer switch to convert it to an electric system is included. I never planned to drive it in the rain and really didn't see a need for a clock. The parking brake works most of the time but the pedal sometimes doesn't stay locked.
Runs cool and seems to drive and stop well although I haven't driven it much over 40 MPH around my neighborhood. Upshifts are very firm as you would expect from a performance car. As Michael Burke told me, these cars need to be driven. I wish I could keep it as it's always been my favorite but my heated storage is gone and I have moved it to my home garage. I have owned it for 24 years with restoration beginning about eight years ago and it still hasn't seen rain. Please email any questions and I'll try to answer them quickly. I am happy to work with the buyer to arrange transport.
