Description for Chrysler Other 1937
Affectionately called "Grandpa". we found this survivor in the back of a warehouse in 2004. We replaced some discolored and cracked glass. gave it a new regulator and a tongue in check teal green metal fleck coat of paint. Later we had all the wheel cyclinders and the master cyclinder expertly replaced. It was driven regularly to car shows and cruises for 6 years including from Cleveland to Detroit for the Woodward Dream Cruise. It's been used for several weddings and was in the background of a documentary movie. But life changes and Grandpa has been setting in our garage for 2 years now. Although we started him from time to time. we haven't been able to start him recently. It might be a weak battery. old gas or he might need a new starter. Should I mention that he still has his original engine? As far as we know there is no bondo - just solid steel. The exterior paint is presentable but has scuffs and scratches as well as some chipping. The metal trim and bumpers are untouched so they may be pitted or have surface rust. The interior is what is really impressive. The mohair seats and rear carpet are almost perfect. There is one small cigarette burn on the front seat. The floor is solid but there is wear on the rubber front driver floor. The original headliner is stained. The original rear window shade is still there and operational. Most of the mohair door trim is in good condition except some wear around the driver. The dash is in fair to good condition. There is an optional fan that spun too fast and the leather blades now need replaced. The front window still opens smoothly to allow air flow. We especially love the suicide doors. People have thanked us for not changing this survivor so the next generation can see it - and smell it. Not included in this listing is another 1937 Chrysler Royal we bought as a parts car that we call "Grandma". It has an excellent engine but no brakes and needs complete restoration. We have many parts that are not included but we can discuss if you are interested. COUPLE OF REVISIONS:The mileage may be more than 28. 25 but the odometer only has 5 digits. The Coker wide white wall tires were purchased in 2004 and are in good condition. We have some literature and manuals that will be included in the sale as well as the trophies we won. There is a recent stain on the back seat that was discovered when we took off the protective blankets. We haven't tried to clean it yet.
