Description for Chrysler Newport 1970
For sale is a very nice original condition 1970 Chrysler Newport coupe. 383-2/727/2DR. I recently acquired it from the original owner's estate out of Ohio with the initial intention to keep it for myself but have since decided to offer it for sale as I do have 2 of these cars in my collection already and I frankly ran out of garage space. I am a life long C body Chrysler enthusiast so I know them well and this one is a good one. It appears to have always been garage kept and well maintained. The original paint shows nicely with a deep shine and the tortoise grain vinyl top is in good shape too along with the chrome. Most importantly to me is that there is no rot or rust holes through on this car anywhere. No bubbles under the vinyl top either! There are a few surface rust spots in some lower areas shown in the pictures but no rust holes through. The floors, stub frame rails, frame rails, and trunk pan are all very clean with no rot or surface rust scale. The previous owner oiled the under carnage as a means of rust prevention. The impressive interior is in 9.5/10 condition.Get in this Chrysler and go anywhere. Starts right up with a quick turn of the key. Runs and drives very well. Steers straight with no shakes at 70mph. The engine idles very smoothly and it accelerates from a stop with good power and no smoke. The transmission also shifts very well. No oil leaks. Ice cold AC, hot heat. Working original AM radio. All lights, gauges, horn, and warning indicator lights work.
Here is a list of some recent service/new parts the car received:
The original 2 barrel BBD carburetor was rebuilt, new reproduction gas tank installed, new fuel sending unit, all rubber fuel lines replaced, 4 new Hankook Optimo white-wall tires just installed, new muffler, new brake shoes, new NOS heater valve, new mopar electronic ignition kit installed, full tune up performed, timing set, all fluids changed.
Please look through all the pictures to judge the condition for yourself. Being a 50 year old unrestored car there will be minor imperfections and normal signs of wear and tear that would be associated with a vehicle of this vintage and type. I have included pictures of all the good, the bad, and ugly. (mostly good!)
