HISTORY:
Originally owned by Air Force and used at the White Sands proving ground in New Mexico. It had a soil boring drill mounted on the back which the Air Force used it until the late 1970's when it was sold at a government auction. I purchased it from a New Mexico truck dealer in 2001 and had it shipped to Massachusetts. The truck is currently registered and has a clean Massachusetts title. Because the truck is fromNew Mexico it is 100%RUST FREE.
This is an extremely rare truck. There are not many 1956 Ford 10 wheelers in existence and this is the only known 1956 all-wheel drive 10 wheeler. The fact that the truck was not left outin a moist climate makes it that much more special. Since I have owned the truck it has been stored inside and has only been driven to truck shows and parades.
WORK DONE:
Rebuilt Front Axle (Parts are still readily available from Coleman)
Rebuilt Power Steering Piston
Rebuilt Brake Booster
Rebuilt Power Divider
New Master Cylinder
All New Brake Cylinders (There are 12 of them)
All New Brake Lines
New Fuel Lines
New Windshield Wiper Motor
New Radiator
New Heater Core
New Firestone Traction Tires (All 10 Tires)
The original non-synchronized transmission was replaced with a 5 speed heavy duty synchronized transmission from another 1956 ford truck. The transmission that was installed was available with the truck as an option.
Frame and wheels were stripped and painted with 3 coats of DuPont self-etching primer followed by 3 coats of DuPont Emron paint.
The cab and grill is the original black and white paint from the factory (ready to be painted the color of your choice). The interior is all original, ncluding the seat which is 100% perfect. The only thing that is not original is someone painted the inside of the doors blue.
