Description for Citroen Other 1988
Up for bid is arguably one of the most sought after (if not the most sought after) of all CX configurations. This is a Series 2 Prestige turbo with a 5-speed manual transmission. It has a taupe cloth/velour interior. For those of you not very familiar with Citroens. the Prestige is the long wheelbase version with cavernous rear leg room and footrests. This car. of course. is a grey import by CINA (Citroen Importers of North America). It lived in Northeastern US before being imported to Canada by the previous owner in 2008. The previous owner had much work done by one of the best CX mechanics in the US. located in Seattle. who brought the car out of hibernation. It is in very good running and overall cosmetic condition. It passed emissions here in British Columbia. Mileage is at approximately 191. 00 kms or 114. 00 miles. The hydropneumatic suspension. self-centering steering and manual ride height control all work well and the car rises and lowers at it should. The brakes and the transmission are in good shape as well. Paint is in overall good condition with some flaws here and there. but it remains a sharp-looking car. There is no notable or readily visible rust. Tires are recent Michelin all seasons. As for the interior. there are no rips or tears in the upholstery and it is in good condition for the age. with the obvious flaw being the dash cracks where the dash meets the windshield. All gauges and lights work with the exception of the oil pressure gauge and the hazards. Power windows and mirrors work. but the power locks do not. There is a JVC stereo with a USB port and Alpine speakers installed. which sounds great. The previous owner also had the headliner replaced. In the past 6 months. I have spent approximately $7. 00 on the following repairs/parts/improvements (with receipts):- All alloy wheels refurbished- Tires balanced- Valve cover gasket replaced- Oil pressure switch replaced- Radiator re-cored- Water pump resealed- Coolant reservoir replaced- Lubrication pipe replaced- Head-gasket replaced- Muffler replaced - Brand new rear bumper painted and installed (old bumper was cracked and discoloured)- Front bumper repainted (side lenses eliminated) and re-installedParts are readily available from Western Hemispheres in California and Dave Burnham Citroen in New York. as well as through CX-Basis in Germany and other vendors. The car comes with repair and workshop manuals. This car is a very rare head-turner and a conversation piece wherever it goes. Reserve is set at what I believe to be a fair price as per the Citroen Concours of America's price guide. eBay does not accept the VIN. which is VF7MANP0000NP7011. Since this is a US car AND it is over 25 years old. bringing it back to the US should not be a problem at all. I have imported cars from the US into Canada several times and the process is very straightforward. That said. please do your own research in that regard. I would be happy to assist with shipping but arranging and paying for it is your responsibility. It goes without saying that there are no warranties. express or implied.
