Description for Cord 812 1937

For sale is an excellent 1937 Cord 812 Custom Beverly sedan. Only 235 Custom series cars were manufactured. They have a longer (132") wheel base than the standard (125" wheelbase) Cords. This was done to give more interior room. This Cord is a very late production car, being 17th from the last car, so it incorporates all of the improvements made during the production run. The car was first restored in 1970 by the late Ed Harris who was well known in the ACD club. In a club newsletter, he describes it as being "a very solid car that I did a thorough restoration on." The engine and transmission were totally rebuilt at that time, and the car has traveled the 14,169 miles shown on the odometer since that restoration. This is verified through previous owners records that I have. The car is shown on the cover of Jon Bills' book "Cord Automobiles." The late Senator Howard Baker, Jr. of Tennessee purchased the car in 2008, and in 2010 he commissioned asecond restoration of the car which included a complete new leather interior inthe correct pattern, new glass, new wiring, paint, (original Cadet Grey, with blue interior colors)and re plating of all interior and exterior chrome, and refurbishment ofmost mechanical systems. A large photo album is included with the car with pictures and textual descriptions of all work completed, as well as receipts. The car runs and shifts perfectly. No smoke from the engine. It is a certified ACD Club original car.

This car is priced correctly for what it is. Yes, you can find $50- $60K Cord sedans out there. For that you will get one that needs everything. Buy this car and get a GOOD Cord that looks, drives and shifts correctly. You'll be glad you did.
