A fine collectible and future investment!!The original Auburn Automobile Company closed its doors in 1937, with the balance of the factory parts and inventory being sold off to Dallas Winslow, a purchaser of companies that filed bankruptcy. Mr. Winslow would continue to sell these Auburn parts from the original Auburn, Indiana administration building to restorers and Auburn enthusiasts keeping these wonderful cars on the road. Fast forward to 1960 when an Oklahoma school teacher, and longtime Auburn & Cord restorer, by the name of Glenn Pray would purchase the newly maned Auburn Cord Duesenberg Co. from Dallas Winslow and move all the remaining inventory to Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Glenn Pray would quickly begin reproducing high-quality Auburn Boattail 852 Speedsters replicas using an authentic, original Boattail body as his basis, molds were generated to exacting standards. Ford Motor Company would supply the convertible chassis, as well as the big block engine, transmission, and rear axle assembly. Pray's original Auburn prototype was created in 1966, and tested for nearly 40,000 miles while being shown throughout 1967. With only minor tweaks necessary, they were finally offered for public sale in 1968 and continued to be built for collectors thru 1981. Today, Glenn Pray Auburn 866 Speedsters are well-respected as being some of the finest Second Generation examples and accepted in the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Club tours and club events.
