Description for Datsun Z-Series 1974
My wife and I moved to Nebraska from California, here this car lived it's whole life, o care for family in August 2011. Since then, ur circumstances have changed drastically enough (my father-in-law had a stroke) that I have not the time or the money to really enjoy the car. In all truth I need the money and the space more than I need my baby. :(My Z is a 1974.5 260Z 2+2. has 147k original miles.
I have replaced the stock suspension with Tokiko shocks and Eibach progressive springs. It is pretty much stock except the hitachi carbs are gone ( this is a good thing as the Hitachi SU carbs were a pain in the rear and junk to begin with) and replaced with duel Webber carbs and it has a 5-speed Transmission. It has a brand new clutch in it and runs like a dream. In fact, drove it here from Sacramento California in September 2011. Man was that fun!
You may wonder what is a 1974.5... Glad you asked. The difference with the 1974.5 and the normal 1974 is that the 1974.5 was made in from September to December 1974 It was Datsun's way of transitioning to the 280Z. So this car is a 280Z with the 260 Motor and Transmission. (of course mine has the 280z tranny now...hehehe) This means that it is a little more rare. Add to this the fact that it is a 2+2 and rarer still as these cars are a subset of a group of cars only made for 4 months.
AC still Blows Cold!
Brand new tires on it!
I have put a new dash cap on and done a lot of other work to it as well.
There are no dents. Paint is decent, ut old. (there are 2 VERY minor rust spots in the rocker panels common to Z's this age but that is it!)
Car came stock with .337 rear ends meaning it has long legs and with he 5-speed really decent mileage. ( I averaged around 25 on the way here from Cali)
I was in process of still doing some work on it. Had big plans, ut alas family situations change, nd life steps in and well.... You know how that works. The interior is decent. The drivers seat is only real rough part. The two exterior door handles are not working right now, ut as I never drive it when it is cold windows down is fine for me.
This car could be your fun little daily driver, r with very little time and money a show car. UP TO YOU!
***Update 07/02/15 *** Both exterior door handles have either broke or disconnected. I have not had the time to really look at what the case is on them.
The Temp gauge is intermittent
The oil pressure gauge may be broke or might need a new oil Pump. Not sure which and have not had the time to really figure it out. The day it happened I parked it in the garage again. That said, hen I do, nd I fix it, he price will go up.

You can see the car's book value on Nada guides here :

This is me driving out of my complex.
This is the freeway.
You will notice that the AVERAGE book is $10,450. I know this car is in better than average condition. I have way quite a bit invested into this car.... My loss your gain. But I am also realistic and know it still needs some work done to it.
