Description for Datsun Z-Series 1976
I'm selling a custom restored 1976 Datsun 280Z. I originally purchased the car in California in 2008. The person I purchased the car from purchased it with approximately 165,000 miles on it in July of 1994. In 1999 a parts car was purchased with a rebuilt engine (Westside Engine and Machine, anta Rosa, A) and transmission (Vasser Automotive, anta Rosa, A) - both with approximately 1500 miles on them. From 1999-2003 the car was painted and had the engine and transmission swapped from the parts car (Painted 5/2003 ~$5700). In May 2003 the car was re-registered and fully assembled with approximately 230,000 miles on the body. Over the following years there were a large number of modifications performed – all records from this period until now are in a binder, ut below is a list of some of them: Motorsport Dash Cover, olyurethane bushings, ustom exhaust, ynamat sound deadening, piston calipers, tainless braided brake and clutch hoses, ew injectors and harness plugs, ew ball joints and tie rod ends, iper Alarm (currently disconnected), owered suspension, enterLine 16x7 Billet Corsair rims, nd Bullet mirrors. Since I purchased the vehicle in September of 2008 I replaced the window weatherstripping, eplaced the alternator belt and the ignition switch. About $3000 worth of engine work was done in 2012 in an effort to get engine closer to stock components. In the past year there has been a new clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder and a new alternator installed. Approximately 14k miles have been put on the car over the last 12 years - about 4k of those have been put on the car over the past 7 years. The body is in overall amazing shape. That being said, here are a few paint chips noted (see pictures). In addition, here are 2 cracks (1 on each side of the rear window - right side more prominent than the left side which is barely visible) at the junction of the splice of the rear quarter panel and the roof section. This was a very common problem in the old Z's - where there was a joint at this location - from what I'm told, t doesn't degrade the body's strength or integrity. You don't see these cracks unless you are very close to them. There are small tears on the door vinyl on both sides (see pictures). There is a small tear in the shifter boot (see pictures).I've been told the car was an a/c car, ut when it was restored in California the a/c was not replaced. I have not replaced it. The car runs great and sounds fantastic with the custom exhaust - not too loud but certainly has a bit of growl to it. The engine and transmission have only 15,000 miles on them since being rebuilt in 1999.This Z looks great, uns fantastic, s a blast to drive and gets lots of complements.
