Description for Datsun Z-Series 1976
I am selling someone's dream car. It was mine. but my life situation has changed so I am forced to part with it. It has a JTR engine swap kit. which is designed to be a bolt on affair to convert your Z into a V8. Like new tires on turbine rims. The car was sanded and put into primer. to prepare it for paint. This is great for you. because it will show you there is nothing hiding under paint. The fuel door was sealed shut and appropriate body work done. The car has an approved fuel cell where the spare tire was located. and is filled through the hatch. Associated to the fuel cell is the JEGS electric fuel pump and fuel lines. Suspension and steering is in great shape. but not improved with those fancy coil overs etc. The car shifts into all 4 gears. It has a lot of chrome and 1 wire alternator. cs130. It has an Eldebrock intake manifold and carburetor to replace the tpi manifold that came from the 1995 Camaro donor. Let me reinforce that for appearances and bolt in affairs. this is a great looking car with stainless steel lines and lots of chrome. and like no rust. Okay- so the rust in the rear wheel well lip. The most common place. but its only in the lip and its been killed. It needs the body work done to them. There is a small spot of rust on the passenger rear frame rail. I only mention that because its the only other rust in the whole car. Really. there is no rust under the battery box. There is none in the rockers. This is as close to a rust free car as they come. So I drove it 200 miles after buying it. Let me reinforce this car isn't road worthy. Sure it drove straight and well. but electrically it is nothing. The last owner really hurt the wiring. Personally. I mark and swap my wiring over with conversions. then delete or re-route. They felt the need to guess and check I believe. It appears they first removed everything they thought was related to the original fuel injection systems. which I'm sure included things they later needed like the temperature sensor wire. and ignition. etc. anyways. assume there is no wiring. I did get it rigged to have blinkers and brake lights. but I have no dash lights. wipers. or headlights. It does have a very nice dash. it has a full cap. It has new seats. It needs a head liner for the interior to be finished. The rest of the panels could use some love. It has h4 headlights. It has the most amazing exhaust system. I have heard a lot of magnaflows and others. but this is the real deal. Amazing and mellow rumble at idle. and the sound of raw power with the smallest (or entire!) of throttle. In the engine bay there are nice things. like lots of chrome. I rebuilt the alternator with a 1 wire regulator since I couldn't decipher their mess. It doesn't reliably charge. but I believe it is due to their horrible wiring not providing the alternator with a reliable sense source. The motor sounds good at idle and rev. but when under load it doesn't perform as well as it should. I'm sure it has to do with the ignition timing and carburetor tuning. The transmission I think is slow to shift into gears. but its probably missing its vacuum supply. I cannot attest at all to the condition of the transmission. they are not my expertise. I can say that it does enter all 4 gears. I haven't had a chance to spend much time with this car as I got married and we just bought a house. My depth has been in fixing the wiring well enough to drive it 250 miles. and then fix the alternator. You will be buying this car the same way I did. as is no warrantee. It is sold as is where is. purchased with the knowledge that this is a project that runs and moves under it's own power. Sure. the car might win a beauty contest. but the rest is up to you to complete to your satisfaction. This is an auction with no reserve. It will be sold to the highest bidder. The winner of the auction will be responsible for a non refundable deposit of $500 within 24 hours of auction end through PayPal. The remainder will be due within 7 days in an agreed method. Buyer is responsible for shipping. there may be assistance to help with loading if it's available. The car must be moved within 30 days of auction end from my residence in Lewiston. Idaho 83501. Let me express again that this is an as is auction. with no warrantee implied. I have done my best to describe and capture the car. but did not go through extra hassles to dress up or hide anything.
