1973 Datsun 240Z For Sale
This 240Z was originally sold at Universal City Datsun here in Los Angeles and has remained in SoCal all of its life.Included in the sale is one original California blue plate "330 JSR", the Universal City Datsun dealer invoice & salesman business card, Datsun warranty card & delivery paperwork, original 240Z Owner's Manual and Dealership Sales Brochure, along with receipts dating back to the first owner.
I am the fourth owner and bought the car in July 2001. It was my daily driver up until 2006 and then started transforming into my autox / track car. When the original L24 expired (blown rings), I first replaced it with a stock L28 and then with a high compression & bored 2950cc L28. I started a thorough rebuild of the Z in 2012, briefly drove it in 2014 when we moved from 91001 to 90065, but have had it in storage since. The Z needs to go to a new home where it will be enjoyed and driven regularly.
Because engine swaps have become so common, and everyone seems to be installing turbo SR20 4cyl or RB25/26 6cyl, the car is for sale AS IS & WITHOUT A RUNNING ENGINE. I am including the original numbers matching L24 short block in case you want to make it stock again. Current California registration expires at the end of September 2017 FYI.
You will need to bring a trailer to pick up the car in 90065.

Some evidence it was re-sprayed once by 2nd owner

Could use a fresh re-spray as the clear coat has just about worn off

With a lot of elbow grease effort it can be made shiny again but that doesn’t last

There is some rust in the lower rear corner of both exterior door skins – nowhere else on the car

Headlight bezels drilled for genuine Nissan short nose lens headlight covers

Genuine Nissan Japan short nose lens covers included (passenger side lens has a crack)

Cibie 7” H4 headlight (original KOYO sealed beams long gone), wired with relays

New repro front turn signal lenses & gaskets (originals included in spares)

Repainted lower front valance & lower turn signal bezels from a 260Z – resprayed & modified/cut to fit 225 width front tires with increased caster (2012)
