Description for Datsun Z-Series 1972
Offered for sale, from KURT TANNER MOTORCARS, is this gem of a 240 Z. This car was recently purchased from a mechanic in Tennessee who acquired the car from California. We just brought it back home here. The car lived in Stockton, California for all of it's life and the body shows zero signs of any rust or accidents. It's the perfect car to perform a simple straightforward respray on and return it to it's original, attractive, and crisp white color. The bodywork on this car is exemplary: factory gaps, the doors click shut, all of the panels align well. There's a few minor dings, chips, and scratches from use. The current silver paintwork was a modest thin repaint years ago and now has almost a dulled-off satin finish. The car's original color was white as seen by the undisturbed glossy finish in the engine compartment. The car's interior trim is quite amazing. The original dashboard is simply perfect. The red seats are the originals and are excellent, barring some small repairs needed on the drivers lower and side cushion. The panel kit and headliner is very nice along with, what we believe, are even the original black carpets ! There's a pair of coco mats which have done a good job protecting the front floors. They're perfectly rustfree and bone dry underneath. Photos reveal that the interior is very well-preserved and quite impressive overall. The car's engine compartment is highly original too still retaining mostly original hoses, clips, clamps- truly an unmessed with car...The car's matching numbers engine starts easily on the choke with great oil pressure, no smoke or noises, revs hard and silky smooth, and sounds great going down the road. The clutch and gearbox feel very good. Brakes are a bit weakish, but we are currently having them serviced. The car's underside is completely dry, solid, rustfree, original and in keeping with the car's low recorded mileage. The car still retains all of it's nice condition original lights, lenses, headlights, glass, sealing rubbers, steering wheel, dealer alloy wheels, original spare tire and hold-down, period installed 8-track tape system (with a suitcase full of country 8-track tapes!).This rare condition 240 Z offered for sale here ticks all of the boxes with a long term California history, 4-speed manual gearbox, matching numbers engine, mint condition/original unmolested body, air conditioning, crisp color scheme, good mechanicals. It would make the perfect preserved survivor car with a simple careful repaint, and in this market is an educated buy going forward. Please look at all pictures and call or email with any questions.
