Description for Datsun Z-Series 1979

Listing Description: Up for auction is my Mother’s one owner 1979 Datsun/Nissan 280ZX with 125. 90 original miles numbers matching California car! It comes with all documentation including the original widow sticker all owner’s manuals including two brochures Motor Trend import car of the year and a dealer brochure with accessories for 1979. The vehicle was bought on 5/27/1979 at Dick Barbour Datsun 5800 Lincoln Ave. in Cypress Ca. She opted up for the 3 speed automatic transmission for an extra $295. 00 Air Conditioning at $635. 00 and the Grand Luxury Package option $1454. 00 and the two tone paint option for $99. 00 all stated on the window sticker which you will get. My mom gave this car a lot of tender loving care over the years. she was the only one who ever drove it. She would always cover the car on work days always garaged never outside unless she was away from home. The car was always taken to the dealer for service except for occasional oil changes. Mom just turned 86 and said she does not want to drive any longer which is why the car is being sold. I’m going to tell you honestly what I know about this car from what she has told me recently. A little about my involvement in selling the vehicle. In the past I purchased a classic vehicle on eBay only to get burned loosing thousands of dollars. With that said I’m going to try and describe to you what the vehicle is lacking. The little things people fail to mention are sometime a reason that someone might not want a vehicle. If by chance you are the highest bidder and only if you’re the highest bidder near the end of the auction I would advise you to contact me. At that time I would like have a phone call with you to walk the vehicle panel by panel the same for the inside. Pictures don’t always show or tell the whole story trust me. the little things make a difference. At that time you would have an option to retract your bid per eBay policy or keep bidding until the auction ends. I was informed that the paint is original. the car has never been in a major accident. My mom mentioned that the right door was backed into at one time way back when. she said it was replaced. Last year on June 14th 20014 she had an emergency drove the car it over heated. The dealer receipt is here for the repair $1980. 00 The head was redone new radiator new gaskets new plugs new thermostat. There’s another for $1429. 00 for installing a new oil pan gasket I guess it was leaking? I had new lift supports installed the back hatch would not stay up. the struts have a life time warranty. The car has had the original factory floor mats since day one. they were remove for the pictures and come with the vehicle. The plastic on the bumpers goes belly up after time these are in very good shape. like I mentioned the car was always garaged! The remote mirror's are in good working order no issues. The tires are at 80% of being new. great condition. As far as everything else what you see is what you get. The car has been parked in my garage for a week I have not seen a drop of oil on the ground. Here's a fun Fact that blows my mind! There's a reminder oil sticker in the left hand corner of the windshield that has the date of the last oil change and the mileage. The oil was changed on 2/21/2008 the mileage at that time was 24. 00. The mileage on the car at this time is 25. 90 meaning in 7 years she only put 290 miles on the car. 7 YEARS WOW! I went through the car to see what was what. from what I can see here are the following things that you the car buyer should be aware of. 1. The windows do not work correctly. the passenger side goes down but will not come up. If you play with the driver’s side switch the passenger’s side will go up but you have to push the auto button at the same time. 2. The driver’s side makes a slight movement but nothing else. From what I can figure out is the driver’s side control switch is bad. I’ve heard that when they go bad it causes a lot of issues with both windows. Keep in mind my mom was the only one in the car most of the time she lives alone. The passengers side switch was hardly used. I tried to find a drivers switch on eBay but no luck. I was told the 1979 model was a one year switch with the auto button in the middle? I found the other type but they are not correct for the car. 3. The rear antenna does not go up. it needs replaced. 4. The rear shocks are shot the car is spongy when you push on the rear of the car. 5. When driving the car to my house I notice the steering wheel shakes at 40 miles per hour but when you speed up it goes away. probably an alignment. 6. The radio appears to work goes in and out because of no antenna. 7. Note the brown staining on the driver’s door panel is clear tape my Mom put it on when the plastic started deteriorating it has turned to brown after many years. Keep in mind the car is 36 years old! 8. The rear carpet was deteriorated from the sun shinning through the rear window. mother added the classic shag you see in the picture. 9. Even though the car had a dash cover installed within the first month. the dash has a crack. The cover was removed for the picture then replaced. see the dash in the pictures. Note: There has been no type of Armor All. or any kind or shiny spray additives applied to this car for this ad. The only thing that was added was a dressing to the tires. What you see is what you will be getting. no smoke and mirror's covering up any of the plastic to look better than it really is! As far as everything else on the car things appear to be in working order. The A/C works like the day she came out of the factory. a good thing when the windows don’t. Like I said a call will allow me to tell you about this or that in regard to the detail on this vehicle. Keep in mind plastic gets old and shows wear. An example of things to discuss would be around one of the A/C vent there is a broken piece can you see it in the picture probably not? There is a very small crease on the right rear quarter panel so slight. nbsp;can you see it in the picture? Things like that often times don’t show up in pictures. I want no disappointments when the car arrives. If no contact is made I assume you're going to happy with the car. I think if you’re into 280ZX's you would find this a possible car to own. Terms and ConditionsWinning bidder must contact me within 24 hours of auction end. and make arrangements for payment at that time. A nonrefundable $300. 00 deposit is due immediately. The remainder is due within 5 business days of auction end. If no contact is made within 24 hours. I reserve the right to re-list the vehicle. sell it to the next high bidder. or sell it otherwise. Preferred method of payment would be a wire transfer to my bank. If paying with a cashiers check the vehicle will not be released until the payment clears the bank. Shipping the vehicle is the buyers responsibility. I would store the vehicle for a reasonable amount of time for the buyer to work shipping the vehicle. Most banks and credit unions do not finance vehicles older than 1995 or with more than 100K miles. Make sure if financing that your financial institution accepts the year and miles of this vehicle before bidding. Please arrange financing prior to bidding.
