I am offering my restored 1972 Datsun 240Z for sale in order to make room for a new project. however I am in no way desperate to sell this car so please do not contact me to ask if I will accept a low ball offer. I have invested a great deal of money in this car. but I also have realistic expectations. therefore I have set the buy it now price at well below the invested amount at what I believe is a value. I purchased this car in 2002 and completed the restoration in 2005. Since that time this car has been stored inside and covered. although I drive it and enjoy doing so. Everything on this car works with the exception of the “fasten seat belts” indicator light. This means everything is operational including the clock. rear defrost. map light. glove box light. dome light. etc. Additionally as part of the restoration. I purchased an OEM dash and had it installed at the time of the repaint. It is in perfect condition. Prior to painting. the car was taken down to bare metal. any rust was either addressed or cut out and replacement metal was welded in. While. this is not a stock color. it is specifically 1999 BMW Estoril Blue and is gorgeous. Most of what I have described above is cosmetic in nature and while appearance is certainly important. in my opinion. a car that is 42 years old still needs to be reliable and safe. So. I invested in replacement and/or restoration of various mechanical systems and parts on this car. The list is noteworthy in that I believe it resulted in a car that you can comfortably drive as often and as far as you choose without reliability or performance concerns. There are only a couple of minor comments I would make about the car. I have noticed a spot. about the size of a dime on the driver’s side rear wheel well where the paint is intact. but there is slight sub-paint raising of the metal. There are a few small rock chips on the front of the car. I would estimate 5-6 and these are literally paint chips” that are impossible to avoid if you drive a car just about anywhere.
