Description for Datsun Other 1964
Up for sale is a 1964 Datsun Fairlady Roadster. These early Datsuns are a rare car here on the east coast. I believe this car has been sitting for at least three years since it was last run. The motor turns freely by hand and the engine compartment looks quite complete without any missing items. The car has the early cast aluminum valve cover. The exhaust looks tobe in good condition with dual stainless "peashooter" pipes out back. I was told the car received a new clutch before it was taken off the road. The car has an early 3 seat configuration. with two buckets up front and ansingle side facing seat in back suitable for a small child. This car is mostly complete with the convertible top frame. no top and a jack in the trunk. As you can see in the photos. there is no beltline trim on the car. I have sourced these pieces. and six nice used pieces are included. All the gauges are present . however one is missing the glass. I have 2 additional gauges to go with the car. The windshield frame is in fairly rough shape and the glass is long gone. I have a source for that near Wilkes Barre Pa. Overall this car is fairly rough. it has a terrible paint job and needs rocker repair. The drivers side foot well has a heavy patch over it. however the rest of the floor looks quite good. small hole in battery box area behind passenger seat. These cars had a full frame under them and are quite stout. This car certainly needs a full paint removaland rust repair. but its not nearly as bad as the typical MGB from the same era. I have all three seats. and they are in fairly good condition. although the vinyl is brittle. They are similar in size to a set of Bugeyeseats. however these are constructed of fiberglass. Make no mistake. this car is not pretty. but it is quite complete and quite restorable. I think it is a rare and worthwhile project. Please note I also have the dash cap. which is fiberglass covered in vinyl.
