Description for DeLorean DMC-12 1981
Here's my 1981 DeLorean which was purchased new in 1984 by the original owner. My dad and I have been the only owners since the original owner and for the last 18 months the car has been at DeLorean Motor Company Midwest for a very detailed and very extensive restoration. The restoration was completed this month (August 2015) and the car is the single best driving DeLorean I've ever had the pleasure of driving. I personally picked up the car in Crystal Lake, L (outside Chicago) and drove it to Cleveland. I then drove it to Detroit for business and back to Cleveland. Last week I drove to my work residence in Baltimore which is where it's been my daily driver since picking it up in Chicago on nice days, f which we've had plenty. All lights, gaugesand buttons work properly and the car sounds, andles and drives fantastic. For a more comprehensive list of everything completed/replaced/updated please contact me as it would be my pleasure to send it to you. This restoration ran $25,000 as I spared no expense. This car was a rare find, t was literally purchased, riven over the course of 25 years only 5,000 miles and then it just sat in the original owner's garage. It's been in a garage the entire time it's been titled as I have secure parking garages both at home and at work and DeLorean kept it indoors throughout the restoration period. Also available (and included with purchase) is an appraisal from DeLorean Motor Company Midwest, indow sticker, owner'smanual, sets of working and cut keys, riginal schematics and proof of the VIN and original ownership. Here are the more common questions answered as it relates to a DeLorean restoration:
- Miles are correct however I am driving it so please contact me for an exact mileage reading should another 200 - 500 +/- be an issue for you
- All new and correct seals and weather stripping everywhere
- All new brakes and rebuilt brake system
- All new hoses
- All new belts
- All new DMC struts for doors, onnet and rearlouvers
- All new tires
- All new headliner
- No dash cracks
- All clutch and transmission work completed
- All engine work completed
- All chassis and frame work completed
- All exhaust work completed
- There's been absolutely no cosmetic (stainless work, eather glue work, tc) work done on the car whatsoever (including the engine)
- Depending on your definition of the above, did have the instrument cluster re-wrapped at DeLorean as the original owner had velcro on it, or a radar detector apparently, nd it was impossible to remove without ruining the dash so I replaced it but again, t DeLorean
