Description for DeLorean DMC-12 1981
Driver Quality. A true 20-footer. Don`t get me wrong, car looks pretty good up close too. 88,000 miles and driven pretty regularly and has been it`s whole life. Extremely reliable. Has never let me stranded, but, does have an intermittent hot start issue. All parts related to the issue have been installed, but, persists occasionally. Just ordered new injectors and if they show up in time, will be installed prior to end of auction.otherwise they will come with the car along with a new in the box fuel sending unit. The current gauge works perfectly from about 1/2 tank down,so you always know when you are low. A/C condition is unknown as it has never been hooked up during my 10 year ownership, but, all parts are there and the belt will be included. I would drive this car across country tomorrow if I had to. I would`nt want to without A/C,but,I could. Bumpers have been blacked out and along with the black stripe makes for a more menacing appearance. cars cleans up extremely well and is bright silver. Some Deloreans look dull and almost Gray from over rubbing the stainless. Starting from the bottom up,the cars sits low and correctly level. It stands on new Cooper tires with less than 400 miles. The rims are powdered coated and will look new forever going forward. Stainless in pretty good shape with only a couple of door dings and panel gaps are excellent. Doors work as expected. Seats are reupholstered in a two tone look. Interior features an aftermarket steering wheel which is very grippy and a joy to hold. Non stock shift knob as well. yes,it has cupholders! At the expense of the glove box space.Exhaust was converted to a single muffler and is a little loud, with a small leak. Engine cover is new, but, the louvers are missing the last row of slats. There is no hardware for holding up the engine cover and louvers on the car. Never was. New cargo net, recent battery, new dash cover and binnacle cover. All gauges work. Wipers and all lights work.Horn works as does heat. Spare is included which sometimes go missing.Headlights upgraded to Sylvania Blue Dot. Headliners and door moldings are good. Has fire extinguisher mounted behind drivers seat.Brakes are excellent.Trunk has a cargo net! Over the years parts have been replaced as needed to keep up the appearance and driveability. Always delorean parts with the exception of the starter which is a gear reduction type from an Eagle Premier. A common upgrade in the Delorean community. Also upgraded to a Stainless expansion tank. Buyer will please send $1000.00 deposit within 3 days of auction end. Balance must be received within 5 days and any shipping is the buyers responsibilty. This car is well known in the Carolinas and has won multiple awards. Most people guess the mileage at 35 to 40,000 and actually won "Best car over 80,000 miles" at two Delorean National Meets. Most recently in Orlando. Bid with confidence. In have earned my good rating on Ebay. Thanks.
