Description for Dodge Viper 1979
Some kid was driving cross country in this van. As he was passing through my town, t started running bad. He drove to my lot and traded it in so he could continue on his journey. After the fact I realized that connecting rod number six came free from the crank.
I was under the impression there was some interest in these old vans. Because the body and interior seemed too nice to throw away,I went looking for a replacement engine. One of my friends had a good slant six with only 70k miles on it that he had removed from a Dart. I bought a complete gasket kit and installed the engine. The motor was very clean inside the oil pan and under the valve cover. It runs great and doesn't make any noises.
The brakes work surprisingly well. The suspension and steering are as good as you could hope a 30 year old van would be. The transmission works. I have, n occasion, xperienced the transmission dropping down a gearunnecessarily.
I took detailed pictures of all the rust. If I didn't take a close up picture of it, t's not rusty.
The tires are pretty thin. I've never had to add air, nd they're not dangerous to drive on.
The AC is present but inoperative.
All the gauges seem to work.
Feel free to bug me with dumb questions. I realize it's hard to take a risk and buy something like this on ebay.No reserve. Will not end the auction early. If you're the high bidder at the end, his is your van.
