Description for Dodge Other 1979
I am the second owner of this 1979 Dodge St. Regis. I purchased the car in 2004, ith 58,194 original miles, rom the son of the elderly woman who originally purchased the car in Northern California. It has been in California all its life and is rust free. Although it is not a police package car, have cloned it to represent the police department from the 1980s TV show "TJ Hooker"that starred William Shatner and Heather Locklear.
The Dodge St. Regis is a very rare car. It was only produced from 1979 to 1981 and most of the 58,000+ cars produced went to fleet use. Most of those wound up being wrecked on TV shows and movies.
The carpet was removed and a heavy duty rubber floor was installed, he headliner was replaced, he sun visors recovered and the seats were reupholstered in a cloth that was nearly identical to that used in the police cars. I replaced the standard 85 MPH speedometer with a certified speedometer (120 MPH) that was set to the car's original odometer mileage. The original speedometer is included with the vehicle. A period correct light bar, iren, potlights, hotgun rack and non-functional police radio were installed. (The siren and light bar have been disconnected per EBay policy.) The domes on the Federal Signal Aerodynic lightbar are in excellent condition. Goodyear GT+4 tires were installed at 58,500 miles.
At 58,461 miles, he front brake pads were replaced, otors turned and wheel bearings repacked. The rear drums were resurfaced, ew shoes installed and the wheel cylinders overhauled. The automatic transmission has been serviced and a third row has been added to the radiator. The A/C compressor turns on, ut it blows warm. I will include two cans of R12 refrigerant with the purchase of the car. The headlight doors open and close. The horn, ipers, auges and all the lights work properly. The digital clock lights, ut does not reset.
The car starts up and runs nicely. It recently passed the rigorous California biennial smog inspection, s it has done since I have owned the car. It has a newer battery. The glass is good and appears all original due to some factory decals on the windshield and side glass. The dash pad is crack-free. All windows roll up and down with the hand cranks. There is a small chip on the plastic of the right rear taillight (not the lens). It is barely noticeable, nd another pair of taillights is included with the car.
I have been showing the car for a few years and it has won some awards at car shows. It has a clear California title and is being sold as-is with no warranty. Check with your state to see how replica police cars can be operated on roadways. I use the car only for shows and parades.
Included with the purchase of the car is more seat fabric, set of tail lights, wo headlight bulbs, n Aerodynic light bar to be used for parts, ll service records, he chassis and electrical service manuals, agnetic strips to cover the ‘police' decal on the door when the car is being moved, pair of period correct California ‘exempt' plates (one real, ne plastic), opies of literature related to the car, ash parts, he original AM radio and antenna, he original speedometer, he original hub caps, wo additional ‘LCPD' door seals and a jacket with LCPD patches and sergeant stripes.
The car is offered for sale locally, nd I reserve the right to end the auction early. This car should be seen and driven to fully appreciate it. Call 916-661-8753 with any questions.
