RW Auto Classics is very proud to present this 57 Dodge Power Wagon for your consideration. This old girl commands attention and is the first thing everyone looks at in our shop, ven over the old Porsches and Jags! Driving this truck down the road is a real experience in vintage motoring. This is truly a fantastic find as these old trucks just don’t show up in this shape often.
The story on the truck as told to me by the previous owner is as follows....
The truck was owned by the same owner since the late 50's until recently and has been used sparingly. I was told that the truck really does just have 18,000 miles since new! She spent most of her time parked in a garage and was maintained regularly and kept in driving condition, ostly used to run hay bales on his farm. Sadly as is the case, ge crept up on him and he could not drive or maintain her any longer and the truck was sold to his neighbor.
When i went to go look at the truck i was told she had not been regularly run in a few years but was surprised to find a very solid example of a power wagon and jumped at my chance to buy it. I got her back to the shop and had the tank boiled and lined, ebuilt the carb and added a battery. She fired up immediately with no smoke and great oil pressure. The engine revs up nicely and doesn’t overheat. She idles smoothly and really does run better than i could have expected. I was told that it’s all original running gear but I’m not sure how to verify that. The clutch works well and goes through the gears quite nicely, as far as an old truck gearbox is concerned)! 4x4 works and engages nicely, TO works in forward and reverse.
The body on the truck has dents here and there but when you consider what most of these trucks were used for, t really is a wonder it’s in this good of shape after 60 years. The worst being the front of the bed is pushed in on the driver’s side, ery fixable, nd the tailgate has seen better days. As far as rust is concerned, have found two concern areas. The passenger side cab corner has a small amount of rust, nd the passenger floor has some small holes in the removable sheet metal. Neither are major and should be easy fixes. There is surface rust as you can see in the pics, ut that is to be expected. The driver’s side windshield was accidentally broken and revealed that the windshield frame will require repair, ut the cowl on the cab is fantastic.
The gauges seem to all work except the fuel gauge, eeds a sending unit. The gauge lights still come on, issing a wiper, ut both motors work. Horn works sometimes, eater does not. Tires have great tread, ut are old. Door hinges could use a greasing.
All in all this is a great Powerwagon and driving this thing is just fun. One of the best candidates I’ve seen to do a full resto on, r leave alone as it has a great patina to it. This is a 60 year old truck that hasn’t been restored or used regularly so systems should be gone through, s should be expected of a truck this vintage. I am not a power wagon expert so if I missed some stuff please feel free to email me. I do have a but it now in mind but am afraid to put it up due to scammers, o if you are serious feel free to call my cell at 425-802-8682 or the shop at 425-556-0261.
