FEEL FREE TO MAKE AN OFFER AT ANYTIME. I CAN MAKE A DEAL EARLY AT ANYTIME. I CAN ALSO HELP YOU WITH THE SHIPPING PROCESS AND GETTING A GOOD PRICE. 1966 DODGE CIVIL DEFENSE D-200 PICKUP. NICE SURVIVOR! Original D-200 with 19. 5" wheels. hubcaps. and matching spare! This is a neat old pickup that was used by the united civil defense department. I don't know if it was originally bought to be used by the civil defense department. or originally a military vehicle that later became a civil defense truck. The truck was definitely army green originally. The nomenclature tag is still on the dash. but does not specify which military branch the truck was for. Some of you military buffs probably can tell by the numbers. The airforce pickups I've seen are usually blue. so this was probably army or marine. The pickup was last used by a fire department and had a tank and pump in the back. It might have been some kind of joint effort thing with the civil defense department. that works with local emergency services. The truck may have always been a pumper truck. but I don't know the exact history. It has 78. 06 miles on the odometer. which I'm sure is original. The truck is rust free and very straight. It runs very nice. This would be a fun truck to drive around and take to car shows as-is. or restore to it's original condition. Here are all the details. MANY MORE PICTURES AVAILABLE AS WELL AS VIDEO. I CAN'T FIGURE OUT HOW TO EMBED LINKS ANYMORE SO JUST ASK AND I CAN SEND THEM. MECHANICAL This pickup has what appears to be the original 225 slant six cylinder. It runs excellent. No smoke. ticks. knock or anything abnormal. It starts up great every time and purrs. It's quiet and smooth. I'm sure new spark plugs and things like that wouldn't hurt. but it isn't needed. The transmission and clutch work flawlessly. This has a four speed manual transmission. The gas tank smelled pretty rotten with old gas. so the truck is running on a temporary tank mounted under the hood. It is only a gallon but works to move the truck around and to load it for transport. The original tank may need to be cleaned. At least should be drained or flushed out. This pickup has the original 19. 5 wheels. hubcaps and matching spare! I am pretty sure 19. 5 wheels on a D-200 had to have been a special order. I have only seen them on 4x4's and one ton pickups and that is even rare. The tires hold air but are not good. They are old bias plies and are weather cracked and I believe have flat spots also. It feels like at least one might be separating internally also. It does not drive good with them. The front-end all feels tight and I'm sure the problem is the tires. I'm an experienced mechanic and can usually diagnose problems very accurately. The are tough old tires and would be sufficient for low speed parade type driving. but really should be changed. 19. 5 is a very popular size and replacement radials are readily available. The lights. heater. heater selector. speedometer. wipers. etc. all works. This truck is radio delete. Glass is good and I don't believe the windshield has any chips. With new tires. (and fuel tank cleaned) I would drive this truck everyday. It is apparent when you drive it that it was never driven hard or abused. It just feels tight and reliable. BODY The body on this truck is exceptional. It is rust free and as straight as you find them. I don't believe there is a dent in it anywhere. The floors. doors. frame. hood. box. tailgate. fenders. ect. ect. are nice. It has been painted red once. maybe when new. but the paint is so old that any bodywork would show or be cracking. Most of the red is worn thin or has flaked off so you can see the original army green below. This pickup was most likely always garaged in a fire department. I know it's been in Montana a long time because there were old registrations in it. Old dodges like this don't survive well in Montana unless garaged and not driven much. We didn't salt the roads until the last few years. but snow/moisture generally causes rust in some areas if they are used outside over a 49 year period. I'm sure this truck was stored inside most of it's life. I have many more pics and can get undercarriage floor pics also. This truck is dry and very solid. Doors. hood and tailgate operate as they should. Windows work also. INTERIOR The interior in these is pretty basic. The seat is the only thing with upholstery. It does have the usual wear in the drivers seat area. The floormat is in good shape. The rest of the interior is in good shape. Nothing broken that I can think of. All knobs on the dash stuff. THIS IS A NEAT OLD PICKUP AND I'M SURE YOU'LL BE HAPPY WITH IT. THESE SURVIVORS ARE COOL TO SEE AT CARSHOWS. UN-RESTORED. THIS TRUCK IS USED AND IS SOLD AS-IS. IT IS VERY NICE. BUT IS NOT NEW. YOU CAN SEE BY THE LISTING DETAILS THAT I TAKE TIME TO MAKE SURE THERE AREN'T ANY SURPRISES. FEEL FREE TO ASK QUESTIONS. I WELCOME QUESTIONS AND OFFERS. BE REALISTIC WITH OFFERS PLEASE. DON'T BID IF YOU DON'T HAVE THE MONEY. GET PERMISSION FROM WIFE. ETC. FIRST IF NEEDED. GET LOAN APPROVED FIRST IF NEEDED. IF YOU NEED TO VIEW THE TRUCK IN PERSON BEFORE BUYING. YOU'LL NEED TO VIEW IT BEFORE BIDDING. THIS ISN'T AN AUCTION JUST FOR YOU TO GET FIRST CHANCE TO SEE IT. I KNOW MOST OF YOU KNOW OUT THERE KNOW THIS STUFF BUT THERE ARE MANY PEOPLE WHO DON'T. I'VE HEARD ALL THE STORIES. PLEASE. JUST DON'T WASTE MY TIME AND YOURS. AND DON'T BID IF YOU DON'T HAVE THE MONEY OR DON'T WANT IT. THANK YOU.
