Description for Dodge Charger 1968
TRIPLE BLACK 1968 CHARGER
2 YEAR RESTORATION.
THIS CAR WAS A FACTORY YELLOW 318 CAR AND IS NOW RESTORED TO REPLICATE A 1968 TRIPLE BLACK R/T TO BETTER THAN FACTORY CONDITION.
This car was stripped to it bare shell. It was then placed on a rottiserie and restored with as much detail as real Hemi R/T would receive. I have numerous pictures of the car being restored along the way. The car was relatively solid however if any panel needed attention is was replaced.
Metal that is new consists of:
-One piece floorpan, runkpan, xtensions, ear valence, ront valence, ood, enders, runk lid, speed hump, umpers, nd rear bumper brace.
-All metal professionally installed.
-One quarter skin was replaced early in the cars life. The quarter was installed adequately and therefore it was retained. The other quarter is original.
The car has a X9 exterior with a factory over sprayed under carriage.
New vinyl top, oor glass, nd windshield. The paint is Dupont base clear.
Interior is all new including restored dash, eats, ew door panels and upper door pads are very good originals.
New carpet, teering wheel, rm rests, ezels, indow felts, our speed boot with correct bezel, ackage tray, nd headliner. Nothing was spared. All window mechanisms were removed and greased. They are tight and functioning correctly. Rubber gaskets were replaced anywhere they were needed.
Pedels and emergency brake are OEM plated and restored.
AM FM thumbwheel radio is very rare however is not hooked up and only for aesthetics as I did not want an antenna on the car. My goal was to add an aftermarket radio in the glove box. That's now your job if desired.
Thousand and Thousands of $$$ were spent on parts from 521 restorations, antes, erbs Parts, rewers, ancini Parts and a few others I am forgetting.
You can eat off the engine bay of this car. The engine is a 71 440 that has been detailed to factory 68 specs. The engine was purchased off a private buyer and was verified to have only 3000 +/- miles since its rebuild.
The engine appears to be a factory rebuild and runs very smooth.
The engine includes all factory spark plug wire grommets, orrect new valve covers with chrome breather cap, nd mopar battery with factory cables. All wiring harnesses are new with the exception of the dash harness which was in very good condition. New mopar plug wires, oses, orrect corbin clamps, nd a $800 triple cored factory radiator. New 750 holley carb with electric choke has been added. Factory air cleaner and new electronic distributor with conversion harness.
Correct exhaust manifolds that have been detailed and lead down to a complete new TTI exhaust system that has factory tips.
New wiper motor from Passion for Mopars.
Brakes have been converted to E Body Disk brakes up front.
A new aftermarket booster has been installed with new master cylinder.
Every brake item is new.
Complete new front end detailed with protective coating on bare metal finish on many parts. All new shocks, nd restored rear springs.
The transmission works smooth and has all new shifter hardware including a new shifter mechanism with a factory restored original shifter handle and wood grain ball. Nearly $1000 just in the shifter and handle.
New clutch, nd pressure plate. New z bar and hardware.
The rear end is an 8 ¾ with 3.91 gears that have been rebuilt.
At this point you can see I pretty much covered everything on this car.
This car is built the way I would want it; which is the only way I will build them. I have built many mopar's over the years and I will honestly say that this one is my favorite build so far. My last build was a 1971 Hemi Cuda Ragtop Replica that took first place at Carlisle. I like this car better!
You will take many trophies with this one as well if your into car shows. It has the appeal of a $100K restored R/T but you don't have to worry about driving this one. You can buy a real R/T for a similar price as this car but it will not have remotely close to the same detail as this car for the same price.
Please come an inspect the car otherwise you are buying the car "as is" "where is" . Please do your due diligence. This car is essentially a new car. The car will not have one mile on it when you receive it. It is winter here as you can see in the pics and I will not drive this car up our sanded and salted roads. The car will however be transported in an enclosed trailer this week to have the front end lined up at the local dealership. Expect some minor tuning as I cannot bring the car up to highway speed however I will have the car tuned very close from garage time.
***The redline tires and rims are from my Super Bee. This car will come with the drag radials you see in one pic added with 69 dog dish caps which I like better than 68's. The front tires and rims are new BFG's with black walls out. It actually looks a little tougher with this tire combo however if you like the skinny factory look you can see what it looks like from the pics. *****
I have tons of pics of the resto if desired but please only ask if you are very serious. I will help with arranging shipping by any means possible. No title as Maine does not have them on older cars. Registration will be provided.
Deposit of $1000 due within three days. Full payment must be paid within 7 days. Wire transfer or cash on pickup only. Car will not leave until all funds have cleared properly.
