Description for Dodge Challenger 1973

Here is a great piece of automotive history that is a blast to drive. It has been owned by the same owner since 1985. After a tire blow out, he parked in a climate controlled building and rarely drove. It has been started occasionally to move around. If I was starting my personal collection, this would be a keeper.

This car is 99% original. I replaced the exhaust tips. The rest of the body is original sheet metal. There is absolutely no rust and never any repair work done. Previous owner said it was original paint. I can’t prove him wrong. It could be a true survivor and man it is in beautiful shape. Original trunk mat with jack & spare are still there. Build sheet is still safely tucked up under the back seat.

Numbers matching original 340 runs great. I replaced the battery and it started right up. Automatic transmission shifts just fine.

The interior is perfect with the exception of a small separation in the drivers seat.

The fender tag is full. Here is what we decoded:

E55 - 340

D34 – Automatic Transmission

JA5 – Dark Silver Metalic

A57 – Rallye

B41 – Front disc brakes

C16 – Console with buckets

C56 – Dual Reclining Buckets

G36 – Dual paint race mirror

H51 - Single Air with heater (A/C)

J54 – Hood inside pad

L25 – Trunk Light

L31 – Fender mount turn signal

M18 – Simulated door louvers

M21 – Drip moldings

N41 – Dual exhaust w/o tips

N42 – Chrome dual exhaust tips

N85 – Tachometer

R35 – AM/FM multiplex stereo radio

The tire blow out left a minor scar on the top of the drivers side fender. A high quality local body shop gave an estimate of $500 but wanted to leave that option up to the buyer.
