Description for Dodge Challenger 1973
1973 Dodge Challenger Rallye Coupe BARN FIND! Original #'s Matching 318 3 Speed Manual 73K Original Miles Two Owner Car! I am both proud and a bit sad to see this one go. This is an all original 1973 Dodge Challenger Rallye Coupe with a 318 V8 and 3 Speed Manual Transmission that I came across near the Maryland and West Virginia border nestled inside a barn on its second owners property since the early 1980's. Time forgot this special car but a new owner is all it needs to bring it back to its glory! THIS CAR RUNS!!!!!!!!!! I REPEAT THIS CAR RUNS!!!!!!!! I got it home and drained out all the old gas. gave the original carb a good cleaning and a fresh battery. she fired right up! I have even driven this car up and down the street a few times just to get her moving again. Here is some background on the car. It was purchased new on January 9th 0f 1973 by Larry Doub of Myersville MD at Jones Motor INC of Mount Airy MD. It is an "H" code (standing for High Cost) Rallye Coupe with a 318 V8 and 3 Speed Manual. It was purchased with the following packages. Light Package Rallye Package Racing Mirrors Undercoating (this is why the floors and frame are rock solid!) Rear Speaker Radio Power Steering Vinyl Roof Rallye Road Wheels Totaling an additional $713. 00 to the original MSRP The original MSRP was $2. 74. 00 and after freight and additional equipment the purchase price for Mr. Doub was $3790. 20 before discounts and his trade. This car comes with a clear MD title from its second owner who purchased it in the early 80's. as well as the original invoice from its purchase in 73. the original sales agreement. owners manual. accessory booklet. warranty information and consumer sticker. I will be checking to see if the build sheet is still under the rear seat. I'd imagine that it is. This car had been sitting in the second owners barn since 1986 short after he had built himself a home on his late fathers property. This was one of 3 challengers he had at the time. this one intended to be driven by his wife. Short after children and some hard times fell on him and the car began to sit stored inside the barn. I happened upon the car and had the chance to own it so I took it in without giving it a second thought. Its one of a few different cars I have in a small collection and I would rather see it go to a true Challenger fanatic. Upon getting the car home I crawled all over and around the car and this is what I found. Numbers matching car. from the vin plate to the door plate and the fender tag/drivetrain Original Paint. car has never had a repaint that I can tell or have been told I removed the original vinyl top due to some bubbling and found that the roof skin needs repaired or replaced I removed the original spare tire and trunk mat and found that the trunk pan needs repaired or replaced The floors and frame are rock solid. The factory undercoat option the original owner paid for saved this car no question The inner quarters seem to be solid The outer quarters will need small patch panels The rockers are rock solid as well as the inner door jams The doors are in pretty good shape. They have some bubbling and surface rust on the bottom but are solid The front fenders on both side need small patch panels or repair The hood on the exterior is fairly solid with a small pin hole or two. the underside of the hood has some rust and will need repaired or replaced The firewall has some surface rust but appears to be solid. All of the window glass is in great shape and free of cracks The dash is cracked but its all there The carpet has some fading The front buckets are torn and need recovered The rear seat is in fairly good shape All interior panels on the front doors and rear panels are in great shape. The windows all roll up and down freely The car has all of the original chrome trim in tact and in place The trunk deck is in good shape as well The drivers side rear brake line is leaking The car goes into all gears well and the clutch feels strong for how long it has been sitting The gauges all work. the clock does not The radio still works. The speakers are all dried out but I hooked another speaker up to it and it worked fine I drained the coolant and put new in before running the motor as well as the old fuel The carb was cleaned before firing the car as well I put a new battery in and it fired right up. The heater fan works! Heat turns right on! Power steering pump still works! No oil or coolant leaks! Lights still work! The motor idles well and the car seems to have a nice tone to it. The exhaust has a leak on the downpipe being that it is still the original exhaust. The center console is in great shape. The tires all hold air and the trim rings are in great shape The Challenger badge on the pass side is in the car. just not on it. I still have the original spare. jack and so on. This car is a great original start to a well documented car. you can run it as you work on it. Obviously you wont be able to drive it home but you will be able to drive it around while you work on it. The brake line in the rear will need to be replaced and I would suggest going over the car before you daily drive her. What caught my fancy with this car was the fact that it was lost in time. it was towed out of the barn the day I was there and it was complete. lost in time and free from any tampering or racing. I imagined being in the showroom that day when Mr Doub purchased it off the showroom floor and driving it away. It is truly an awesome car! Only 73K original miles! I have plenty of pictures of the car. I am running this at no reserve. KEEP IN MIND ITS AN ORIGINAL LOW MILEAGE 3 SPEED CHALLENGER RALLYE! DO NOT SEND ME RIDICULOUS OFFERS OR TRADES. I HAVE NO INTEREST IN TRADES! Ask any questions you would like I will gladly answer them. I have listed this car as honestly as possible. Please do not think you can drive this car away. its been sitting since the 80's. Be sure to bid before its gone! Send me offers or comments to 267-274-872 nine.
