Description for Dodge Lancer 1955
Beautiful, head-turning 1955 Dodge Custom Royal Lancer 2 door Hardtop. 1st Place Winner of the Dodge Division in the Walter P. Chrysler Club's 2003 North American Meet. Tri tone Heather Rose, Sapphire White, and Jewel Black. 270 2 Barrel Hemi with aftermarket dual exhaust conversion that sounds great. 2 speed PowerFlite automatic transmission with unique dash-mounted shift lever. Power steering and brakes. This special car has had the same owner for the past 15 years, and only six owners since new! Originally a California car (maybe The Little Old Lady from Pasadena?), this Dodge has a very straight body with no dents, scratches, or rust. Odometer shows 42,639. Actual mileage unknown. The car received a complete exterior restoration in 2002-2003 that included a high quality paint job (you can comb your hair in the mirror gloss finish) and rechroming of every exterior chrome piece. Original stainless steel was polished at the same time. Needless to say, there is no pitting on any exterior chrome piece--just shine. All details and ornamentation are complete and in excellent shape. This car shows nicely. The 4 bar spinner wheel covers are an attention-getter and also in excellent condition. The Coker tires have less than 4000 miles on them. Underbody is clean and solid. All four windows roll up and down, but the front door windows like a little help. The interior is in very good condition overall. The steering wheel was professionally refinished, and is correct for a Custom Royal, with bright white on top and black on the bottom. Most Dodges like this have cracking or yellowing of the white part of the steering wheel--not this one! There are no rips or tears on the seats. The cloth upholstery is not correct for this car, but it looks fine. The carpet is fine. The door panels are good overall, but show some wear on the shiny silver parts. The headliner is excellent. The radio works, the clock does not. The chrome on the dash is original and is pitted in spots, but from a few feet away looks decent. Overall, this car's condition would look at home in a museum. The original 6 volt electrical system is in place. The Dodge starts and runs smoothly. It will happily cruise at 70 mph all day. All lights work. The transmission shifts without any problems. The only mechanical items are two slight oil leaks on the engine (maybe one of them is power steering?) and a slight leak on the transmission. These do not interfere with operation. The Dodge has been driven sparingly and has had oil changes at least yearly over the past 15 years. Documentation exists for everything that has been done in restoration and repair. This is your opportunity to own a flashy car that's fun to take to shows and a joy for cruising. You will almost certainly be the only one with a car like this--there are only a handful of 1955 Dodge Custom Royal 2 doors left. You are welcome to inspect the car prior to bidding.
