1948 Dodge Panel Truck Original Logos!
This dodge Panel has been in Albuquerque NewMexicosince brand new. It was originally purchased as the shop vehicle for Home Hardware. The original logos are still on the vehicle including the four digit phone number. It served proudly until the demise of the store in the lateseventies. I found the panel about 8 years ago asoriginal with no motor. I began to restore the vehicle about four years ago keeping the paint and body original. RestorationThe panel has gone through an extensiverestoration, with the objective to create arestored that ran and drove like a newcar yet preserving the original look and patina. The list of work on thispanel are extensive they include but are not limited to:A TCI mustang two front suspension, 9 inch ford reared which included correctly cmatching the frame, four wheel disc breaks, new painless wiring harness, All new glass, all new seals and weatherstripping, heidts steering column, 40 ford steering wheel, new gas tank, new break lines, new fuel lines, NOS vintage Mooneyes dash gauges, Newwillies ledtaillights Stock Chevrolet 350 with turbo 350 transmission (original from 1971 chevelle) with Lokar tall shifter and newblanched driveshaft. The motor has about 20k miles on it. We pulled the motor apart to a short block cleaned, painted and reinstalled all newaccessories Like water and gas pump, intake manifold etc. Installation of a Griffen Aluminum radiator keeps things cool.The interior is all original. I removed the seats and frames and had them sandblasted and powder coated then rewrapped in original greennaugahydematerial.The whole body is original and is does have rust which I kept intentionally, in the lower rearinfant of wheel wells (look at pics) it has been treated and coated soint will not rust further. The rest of the body and frame are RUST FREE. The body was lightly sanded and was sprayed with semi gloss clear to preserve the original logos and patina. CLEAR NM TITLE in my name!
DrivabilityThe panel van has about three thousand miles in it since its completion about 18 months ago. I have hadabsolutely no problems with the vehicle and it drives out perfect. It is a perfect daily driver. Iwould feel 100% confident that you could fly here to NM and drive it home to anywhere in the country.
