Description for Dodge Charger 1983

1983 Dodge Shelby Charger, 1930 actual original miles! All original paperwork and documentation include; All dealer purchase paperwork has been saved including bill of sale, loan docs, warranty info, rust proofing, registrations, odometer statement, dealer pamphlet, original factory brochure and broadcast sheet. This rust free car was owned and kept in a Chrysler Shelby Collection for over 30 years. The car is still exactly as it left the dealer back in 83, with the exception of a new battery and basic maintenance kept up. The engine was ran regularly and fluids were changed accordingly. Tires are still the factory originals. 1983 was the first year Carroll Shelby became involved with Dodge and started putting them back in the Performance car market. He would finish the run in 1989 and was noted as saying “ I had a whole lot of fun building those Dodge pocket rockets”. This car represents possibly the lowest mile original Shelby Charger in existence! Its as though Its been in a time capsule for the last 33 years. For 1983, Carroll Shelby modified the Dodge Charger, to be sold at Dodge dealers as the Dodge Shelby Charger. Rather than focusing on speed, Shelby modified the suspension and styling. The engine compression was raised for 107 hp (80 kW), and the manual transmission had revised ratios. Shorter springs, special wheels, and tires complemented stronger brakes and quicker steering. Outside, a new nose and racing stripes accented the performance image. The body kits, among other parts, were often shipped to dealerships along with the car to be put on after delivery. The reasoning behind this varied, but was said to speed delivery and compensate for ground clearance issues that the cars faced on many car carriers. Total production that year for these Shelbys was 8,251 cars, this is one of the 3,066 in Silver. (5,185 were blue).
