Description for Dodge Charger 1968

For auction on ebay is a 1968 Dodge Charger R/T. This is one of the rarest Chargers to find for sale! It is a factory 440 HP . Hemi 4 speed with the Track Pack 3. 54 Dana 60 rear end. Look around you will not find but a handful that come up for sale over the span of several years. Only a little more than 2700 were produced. so it is very tough to find as there are far less around these days. By far the most popular 2nd Generation Charger! The 69 and 70 Chargers pop up for sale more regularly than the 68s. This particular car has been gone through quite extensively. Yes. EVERYTHING works. even the clock. This is a fresh restoration with only about 50 miles to date on the vehicle. Completed in the last 3 weeks so everything is clean and ready to go. The car has an extensive list of parts that are new. I will post a TON of information along with plenty of pictures (over 65) to show exactly what has been done to the vehicle. Every aspect of the car has had attention. Please read it all and go through all the pictures. as this isn't your average car for sale on ebay. What separates this car from other Chargers for sale is its rarity and also the amount of time and effort that has went into this car. This is. for all intents and purposes. a new 1968 Dodge Charger R/T. I will show lots of pictures of the car done and while undergoing restoration. I really want everyone to see the time spent to make as correct as possible to one that would have rolled off the factory line. Also. the underneath of this car along with the rest of the car has been replicated to look as it did when it rolled off the factory floor. This includes all inspection markings on the suspension. transmission. rear end. etc. Also. nbsp; correct decals put back on that were removed (and put back on where they were removed). along with correct part numbers where I could find them. wiring straps. hold downs. etc. You wont find a 68 Charger R/T 440 4 speed car for sale that was replicated as close to original like this one currently. I will go through each section of the car to give you the most accurate description of what has been done. This way you will know exactly what has been done. and I will provide enough pictures to back up what has been described. Please ask any and all questions. I'm happy to answer them. I know even with as much info is on this ad. that I have forgot to mention a lot of parts that has been replaced. Why over spend on a car that may only be half completed with a quick paint job and some interior work? Here's the best part! Its on a NO reserve! That's right. it will start very low and sell to the highest bidder. All that I ask is that you place a bid only for the amount you can afford to pay. When the auction is over the car will sell to the highest bidder. no matter what the price gets to. So once again. only bid what you can pay. The car will sell for fair market value. whatever that may be. You couldn't buy this car and have it restored for under six figures. so this is a REAL opportunity to own a beautiful 1968 Charger R/T right now! I've invested more than I could ever get back. so my loss is your gain. See pictures below to show undergoing restoration. Body- The exterior of the car has mostly new or rechromed parts. It has new marker lights. rechromed bumpers. wheel lip mouldings. white bumble bee stripe. emblems. windshield. trunk trim . hood turn signals. hood depression decals. door handles. door locks. pentastar emblem on Right fender. and front park light lenses. The car has its original dash vin. fender tag and body numbers match the tag. Car was completely disassembled and stripped entirely down. Grille- The grille was completely restored by Rod Glaser from GS restorations. He is the best in the business as far as Im concerned. The grille is a piece of artwork. It is completely painted the correct color and is fully functional. Every part on the grille is restored and looks better than new. Paint- Paint is the original GG1 Racing Green Metallic. This is a one year only specific color. It is really a beautiful Green. It gives off so many different hues in different lighting. In the shadows it almost looks Black. Not to be confused with the later F8 green. Not the same green at all. The paint is PPG Basecoat / Clear coat. and was color sanded and buffed. Has a beautiful wet look to the paint. The car is very straight and the body lines are sharp. The paint is in excellent shape and is fresh. with only 50 miles on everything. The car has only 1 repaint on the car and has never been any other color. All of the jams. including trunk and engine bay were also painted to match the outsideWheels- 15x7 Magnum 500 wheels all the way around. Previous owner had purchased new original style Goodyear polyglas tires before the car was parked in the early 70s. They were stored indoors all these years and were given to me. So I decided to run the original style polyglas tires that he never got to run on the car. They're not reproductions but period correct real polyglas tires. They were still new and very soft from years of indoor storage. So the car looks how a Charger would have looked with original polyglas tires. Interior- Interior has all new Legendary seat cover and door panels. Also has new carpet. dash pad. headliner. sill plates. rear window trim. visors. Pillar mouldings. package tray and trunk mat. It also has all OEM correct new Green seat belts. The car was coded for Green and Pearl White interior. The interior was completely stripped and the dash was restored and repainted the correct interior green and the new dash pad was installed with new dash vents. The dash cluster was refaced and the lens was polished and the outside bezel was painted and detailed. Has a new tic toc tach. new headlight switch and new 3 speed wiper switch. It also has new glove box liner and the heater box was removed . repainted and a new heater core installed. All the cables were attached how they were from the factory. The dash harness was completely restored . retaped and labeled. The harness was tested and works perfectly. Has the original AM radio installed. No speakers were installed so the new owner can put whatever radio suits them or add speakers and run the AM radio. Has new armrests . gas pedal. and window cranks as well. Underside- This is a factory full body undercoat car ( I have pictures before being resprayed). The underside was professionally undercoated after paint with everything removed from car (unibody car so no such thing as a frame off). The underside was completely resprayed and duplicated how it was done originally. The only green paint showing on the underside is the front frame rails and part of the inner fender aprons. It has all new fuel and return fuel lines and brake lines installed. The underside is as clean as it gets. Not a spec of rust or dirt. I would say you could eat off the bottom of this car. but thats pretty ridiculous. It is however. as clean as it gets. Suspension- All new front and rear suspension. New upper and lower ball joints. tie rods. pitman arm. idler arm. strut rod bushings. upper and lower control arm bushings. sway bar bushings and front shocks. Rear has new leaf springs. bushings. rear hangars and shocks. All suspension parts were cleaned and bead blasted. then painted back to correct colors of the suspension according to how we saw it when the parts were pressure washed. All suspension parts were put back with the factory inspection marks that were on the original parts. They were put on without the cotter pins. and then all the cotter pins were installed facing the same direction. Torsion bars. rear end. shocks. springs all got the inspection marks we could find or replicate. Very few cars out there get this attention to detail. Brakes- The brakes are 100% all new. All the backing plates and brake parts were blasted then cleared to keep their natural finish. New brake shoes. hardware. wheel cylinders. power brake booster. master cylinder. master cylinder line. front to rear brake line. rear end brake lines and all rubber hoses were replaced. Every last brake component is new on the car and stops perfect. The drums were left cast and they got the replicated green dots on the drums and also the red striping that all "styled" wheels got when they were new. Since this car I put the magnum 500 wheels on . the drums painted red on the outside would be correct. It was done much more haphazzardly from the factory with a bunch of runs. but I didnt replicate that. Electrical- All of the electrical on the car has had attention. It has new tail light wiring harness. engine wiring harness. and front headlight wiring harness. Factory part number decals were put back on the harnesses where they were taken off. The main dash harness was completely restored as well and tested. Has new tach harness installed as well. This is a factory tach car. Has new hood turn signals and also a fully restored 3 speed wiper motor that is correct for the car. as it was an early production 68 Charger. Wiper arms were restored with new seals. Everything on the car works. All lights. wipers. tach/clock. heater. headlights. horn. flashers. dash lights. etc. all work as they should. Engine- Has the original 68 HP 440 motor. Motor has been completely rebuilt back to stock specs. Correctly painted turquoise for 1968 HP motors. Has new pistons. bearings. seals. double roller timing chain. cam. il pump. etc. Heads were completely rebuilt with hardened seats to accept todays fuel. All accessories on the motor are brand new. Motor has 70lbs of oil pressure and runs great. It has 50 miles on the motor and was correctly broke in. Has new alternator. starter. sensors. belts. hoses. gaskets. power steering pump. spark plugs. wires. distributor. etc. Transmission- Completely rebuilt 18 spline Hemi 4 speed transmission. It is date correct. 1968. however it is not original to this car. I had all the internals replaced and works great. Fully rebuilt! This is the best 4 speed transmission Mopar made. It was heavy duty. and could take any abuse you could dish out. It has all new 11" clutch. pressure plate. throwout bearing. pilot bearing. shift rods. 4 speed handle. 4 speed mechanism. All new bushings. clips . adjusting rod. and hardware. New shift boot and bezel as well. 4 speed also has correct markings that it had from 1968. Has correct bell housing. bell housing cover and clutch fork as well. Driveline- A completely rebuilt driveline with new u joints. new front yoke and speed balanced for a smooth ride on the highway. Rear end- A completely new Dana 60 Rear End built by Doctor Diff. All of the internals on this Dana are completely new. It has a 3. 54 suregrip/trac loc. No used parts were used and it is completely new as with the rest of the drive train. Inspection markings also were put on the rear end along with the correct 3. 54 tag and "use limited slip" tag. The brake fitting on top of the rear end was polished and new brake lines were installed along with the part number decal on the driver side axle tube. Shock plates and U bolts were blasted/cleared and left its natural finish. Misc- New correct battery was installed with correct hold down. Has correct positive/negative battery cables. New wiper washer bottle with new nozzles/lines and squirters. New voltage regulator. starter relay. ballast resistor. All wires in the correct looms that the factory used. Has bumper jack and spare tire as well. All hardware is new as well. Lots of original bolts were cleaned and polished where applicable. Glass- Has new front windshield with new gasket. Side windows and rear window is original to the car. I've lubricated all moving parts and all windows roll up and down as they should. Has new front and rear window trim mouldings that fit like they should. I will post some pics as the car was being restored below and some after the car was cut and polished so you can see the shine on the car and also the different colors in different lighting. You can also see the progression of the car. I will also post a picture of the fender tag before it was painted so you can see that it is original. This is a factory GG1 Green car with pearl white/green interior. factory tach car. dana 60 3. 54 rear end. power steering and power brakes. Non A/C car.
