Description for Dodge Challenger 1970
You are bidding on a 1970 Dodge Challenger RT/SE 440-4bbl 4 speed car. Lets start with what the car is:The car was born Plum Crazy purple with a white vinyl top, black RT longitudinal stripe, and black leather SE interior with the over head console. The car is optioned with the Rallye Dash, Rimblow steering wheel, pistol grip console mounted shifter, luggage rack, 440 - 4bbl AND the Super Track Pack, which includes: Dana 60 rear end, power front disk brakes, power steering with cooler, heavy duty cooling package, and the 18 spline Hemi four speed and skid plate on the K- Frame. Now for the History:The car was sold new out of Las Vegas, New Mexico from Art's Dodge. The car went to Colorado until 1974 where is was traded back in to Art's Dodge in Vegas. The car was then purchase by the second owner ( who we bought the car from), the enjoyed the car until an unfortunate street racing accident immobilized the car in the mid '70s. The Challenger was then sent to a body shop in Albuquerque where they replaced both front frame rails, from the sub frame forward, inner fenders and radiator support. He continued to drive the car until 1980, when it was last registered and he parked it in the field that we pulled it out of just months ago. So, the car spent 4 years in colorado, and then the rest of its life in relatively dry Northern New Mexico.
Now for the current condition:The car retains the original, number matching engine and transmission. We them removed from the car. The engine needs rebuilt, due to the length of time it spent in the field. We disassembledthe motor down to a short block and will include all of the pieces of the motor, which is everything to make the car run shy of a carburetor. The car still has the dana 60 and k frame with the skid plate. The repair job of the front end was done ok for the technology available in the mid 70s. Unfortunately, when they fixed the car, they did not think to swap the fender tag so that is missing along with the VIN stamp on the rad support. The VIN number matches the dash, cowl, engine, transmission, and factory door sticker of course, the Clean title. IN that the car was built in LA, there was no buildsheet to be found. The car comes with the complete interior including the original seats and everything needs re-done, the back seat frame is very rusty and most likely cannot be saved. The car retains the original SE fiberglass window plug and back window in good shape. The inside window trim is still there and the rear taillight and trim panel are also there and in great shape. The luggage rack is also very nice. As far as body rust goes, there is a small spot of cancer above the windshield as pictured, there is small spot of cancer on top of the passenger side quarter panel just above the tail panel, also pictured. The passenger lower rear quarter needs to be replaced, the drivers side seems to be less rusty. The trunk floor is all there except some spots seem to be close to breaking through. The entire floor pan is rust free. Early on, they took the carpet out of the car and saved the floors. The rockers and engine compartment along with the frame are rust free also. The drivers fender is damaged along with the drivers door. The passenger fender is cheap fiberglass replacement. The hood, we believe, to be An OE fiberglass TA hood from a 1970 TA Challenger.
Extra parts:The car comes with a clean drivers door, and a rust free set of fenders that will need body work. Also, a complete extra set of door and quarter glass. Hood hinges, latch assembly and other miscellaneous pieces are included. A brand new reproduction battery tray and positive cable are included also.
The car is equipped with a number of day two parts like: shackles and staggered slotted mag wheels, scatter shield, headers, and a shifter assembly they modified for "quicker" shifting.
