Description for Dodge Charger 1968
I am selling a 1968 Dodge Charger. Celebrity owned by a rock star and the cover of one of their albums. The car was restored with several custom touches making this mild hot rod one of the coolest Charger's around. The entire restoration was performed by Jack Roush of Michigan. The restoration is documented by all receipts by Jack Roush as well as a list of every single part used along with pictures of entire process. This is basically a brand new 1968 Dodge Charger with everything done. Below is a description of what Roush did and the cost tally. The car is equipped with a built 383, power steering, power 4 wheel disc brakes, 727 automatic transmission, bucket seats, center console, factory air conditioning, polished alloy wheels and a lot more. Please email me with any questions cinsalaco@yahoo.com or ask for my contact to speak to me over the phone. This is by far the straightest charger you will ever see. Roush received the car back in 2008 and totally disassembled it, all parts were categorized and labeled. After the car was stripped of the parts the motor was sent to Engine Build, the interior was then sent to the trim shop and the car itself was sent off to media blast. The car was then primed and blocked 3 different times to male it a straight as possible. The car was then painted in black base-coat clear-coat with the motor compartment and trunk area being painted a stain black, the trunk and interior floor were also shot with a truck bed liner to act as a protectant and sound barrier. The car was the jacked up and the undercarriage was completely sprayed with chassis enamel. After the exterior of the car was painted, it was then stick sanded with 800, 1000, 1200 and 1500 grit sandpaper for flatness, they then rubbed and polished the complete exterior for the shine. With the body finished they had over 640 hours of labor involved which came to $33,210..The motor went to the Engine build to be checked out, the motor was disassembled and rebuilt, new parts included new pistons, rods, camshaft, intake and carburetor and all gaskets, after the motor was rebuilt it went to Dyno to be ran and broke in, they made several different passes on it. The cost for the engine labor and Dyno time came to $6,193.. The interior was one of the biggest project of the car, with the interior completely cleaned out they started by painting the dash and all the seat frames, after all was painted they then upholstered the seats. Pretty much everything was replaced. The headliner, carpet, door panels, side panels, arm rests and bases, package tray, sail panels, dash pad, carpeting, center console and just about every visible part inside was replaced. All of the window guides, rollers, sweeps and weather stripping were replaced, the windshield and side glass were replaced and tinted. The instrument panel was sent out and rebuilt along with all gauges, all were then re-lettered and all of the dash appliques were also replaced, they also replaced the heating controls, heater control valve and vacuum controls. All of the A/C lines were reworked, resealed and reassembled. They also rebuilt the steering column and signal indicator. Altogether the interio, dash and some of the firewall work added up to $12,850.. Mechanically they had to reinstall the motor, transmission and driveshaft. They replaced the u joints in the driveshaft. They purchased a new torque converter with the correct stall. Some cosmetic touches, powder coated the valve covers, painted the headers black, painted the transmission a cast aluminum color and also the driveshaft was painted. Labor of this part of the job came around $1,268.00.. To install the aftermarket 4 wheel disc brake package which included all new rotors, calipers, backing plates hardware, new brake lines and proportioning valve came to $1375.00.. They then installed the TTI exhaust system to their specs using all of the mounting hardware, they did have to fabricate and bend one exhaust pipe for the right side, to install exhaust complete with chrome tips came to $835.00.. On to the suspension, they replaced the upper and lower ball joints, inner and outer wheel bearings, tie rods, pitman arm, rear spring bushings and installed the 3 inch lowering kit and shock absorbers. They also had the front end aligned with over 57 hours into this stage at $2,780... They ended up rewiring the motor compartment, some of the underhood parts were replaced were the alternator, alt brackets, coil brackets, positive and negative battery cables, carburetor linkage,, battery, washer fluid bottle and washer pump, squirters, water separator, radiator hoses, heater hoses, belts, fan shroud, air cleaner etc. They had over 100 hrs installing all parts that came to $5,150.. Miscellaneous time was scattered all around the car, they had close to 80 hrs working on the fuel system, new gas tank, sending unit, straps, filler hose and lid, cross members, front and rear bumpers, headlamp and headlamp vacuum system, installing glass and moldings, wiper system, drip moldings, side markers, hood and deck assembly and taillights which totaled $4120.00...
With all this being said you have a 1968 Dodge Charger done by a professional restorer and owned by a celebrity with a total of parts and labor of $67,781.00.. (That does not include cost of vehicle)All This work was completed in 2009 and I purchased the car in 2010 where it has been sitting safely in a heated garage. The car had 77,736 miles on it at the time of my purchase and now only has 78,838 which is only 1000 miles on a restored beauty. I have all original paperwork from my purchase and copy of title of original celebrity. The owner was in a rock band who was well known in the 80's and 90's and had this car on their cover album and an article in DUBS magazine. This is a Barrett-Jackson quality car that's is in excellent condition and ready to go to a new owner. there are two things on the car I recently noticed that are having issues, the radio does not power on and the fuel gauge only moves up to half tank when full. I can show a video for sound of engine or anything else you need to see. I have seen the same car go through Barrett-Jackson and sell for over $100,000..This is an auction so please don't ask what the reserve is, Good luck bidding!!
