Description for Dodge Challenger 1972
Up for auction is my 1972 Dodge Challenger. I purchased this car about 4 years ago locally. I found it sitting under a cover in the back of a garage. The car was in running condition but needed some TLC.
The last owner purchased the car with the intent on making it a drag car. No body modifications were made. The engine is a 383 and is quite powerful. The previous owner informed me he spent a lot of money on the bottom end of the car and that it is virtually indestructible. The car runs strong. In its current state, the car is not a cruiser although I do drive it to shows locally without any issues. It is just not a highway cruiser. It has a 4:56 rear and a 4500rpm stall converter. If you swap them to something more street friendly, the car would be fine. The engine has high compression and runs best on 105 octane or better. I currently mix the fuel myself.
Since purchase, I gutted and refinished the interior. I replaced the carpet, repaired all the seats, refinished all the plastic panels and repaired the dash. I also cleaned all surface rust on the floor and painted with primer to prevent any further rust from appearing. Surprisingly, the car has very little rust. I only found surface rust. I have photos of the before and after process. I have replaced the front shocks, Exhaust (headers back) and installed 4 new tires and wheels as well as countless other odds and ends such bolts and covers.
The paint is clean and in nice shape. The car was painted by the last owner and stored inside so it cleans up nice. I added the stripes and hood decal. The black helps break up the yellow. The vinyl roof was replaced by the last owner and is not original.
There are a few items I have not repaired as of yet.
Reason for selling? I am just looking for a new project. I have taken this one as far as I want to take it. This is a solid car. It is old. It is not perfect and I do not claim it to be. It is a fun old muscle car that always turns heads. You do not see many old Mopars. They are much harder to find. No warranty. Sold as is. Please come and check it out with your own eyes. No joy rides please. Email with questions. I will answer to the best of my ability.
