Description for Dodge Other 1940
This was buffalo minn 1940 fire truck. It had 2888 mile when sold to the shriners in the late 80's. There is oil change sticker dated 1994 and mileage is 4130. I got the truck 10 years ago with mileage of 5400 and now is 5852. Believed to original mileage. The truck had a vacuum of 13 and was very had to start. I pulled the engine and rehoned the cylinders and new rings. it is 228 cubic inch 25 inch length engine. It was NOT over bored and valves where not touched. I has vacuum of 19 now. I has NO rush in corners, just mild surface rust under floor mat, I have a clean title and it is in mine name. It starts right up with 40 psi oil pressure and runs at 40 until hot, then it will idle at 25 and the faintest touch of throttle it goes to 40. I have driven it in a 90 degree parade for 1 hour and it ran at 160 degrees the entire timewhat I have done to the truck
all wheel cylinders are sleeved in stainless and all new shoes3 new u joints (took a year to find)rebuilt carbflushed radadded the red lights on roofadded the blue light on bumperrebuild fuel pump
what workssiren really worksthe PTO works but the pump has a crack, I bet the pump was not drained. It is made by viking pump companyred lightsflood lightheaterspare tire, no idea how it is mounted3 point tow bar that bolts to front bumper to tow it
problemshas small dent behind tool box on bedthe wood running boards has rubber removed and replaced with carpet not sure whypump has a crackthe orginial wood ladder is missingtop cruising speed 40 MPHa car seat is bolted in bed, great to sit on and throw candy at parades
It is great old fire truck that runs good, very very low mileage, has some roadrash and fainted paint but fun at paradesIt is still a 80 year old truck so no warranty and bought as is. It can be towed with tow bar, weight I guess is 8000 pounds.
