Vehicle Details

Dodge Ram 1500. This is a 1974 Dodge D100 Adventurer SWB pickup. It is in exceptional condition having been an Arizona desert truck since new. It was repainted the original color roughly ten years ago and it shows well. All of the trim and stainless as well as that huge Dodge grill are in remarkable condition. This is not a beat up work truck. I am the second owner having purchased it from a good friend of mine that bought it new. He had it to tow his Little Daihatsu race car back and forth to the track. He never put very many miles on it because he was kind of frugal and drove around in little foreign cars most of the time. He did, however, do some quality work to this to make it a great tow vehicle. It has the 440 with the 727 automatic from the factory to which he added headers, dual exhaust, stiffer springs, transmission cooler and a heavy duty radiator. He had a high performance camshaft put in and it has a ton of grunt when you hit the accelerator. It also has a wonderful dual exhaust sound that is loud enough to know it's got some serious horsepower, but not make obnoxious noise. There is a significant steel step bumper with a tow ball, but there is also a frame mounted receiver hitch mounted lower and under the rear of the truck. The truck has factory A/C, dual sport mirrors, cruise control and external bed light. I have never tried the cruise control, so I can't swear that it works, but all of the components are there. I was using the A/C last spring and it has that biting Chrysler Frostemp coolness to it. There is something that causes the dash board ducts to let air into the cabin as you drive along. I think I read about a fresh air door that needs a gasket. It is not much of a problem here in the desert, but I'm guessing if this were in cold country it might let in freezing air. I added a new Pioneer CD player that has Bluetooth and phone and all that good stuff. It has three way speakers with tweeters added on. There is still a lot of bare steel inside the ruck so it will bounce some sound around. The leather and suede bucket seats are new along with a gigantic console with cupholders. These are new from a handicap van conversion place in town. They look and feel great and the passenger one will fold up into a table if you need it. the carpet is good original loop pile carpet. It is a little dirty in the pictures, I forgot to vacuum it. The bed has had bedliner on it since new. It is in excellent condition. He nor I ever hauled much in it. I redid it in tan to match the truck as the black was crazy hot in the summer. I didn't realize how much dust and dirt would get caught up in it, but it is still better than black. Obviously, this truck has been well cared for. It is as solid today as it was when new. There are no shakes or rattles even on a rough road. I thought about putting some sound deadener on the back wall or maybe a cloth headliner in it, but honestly as little as I drive this I don't need to. The underside is as clean as the top of the truck. I don't believe this has ever seen salt. The oil on the dipstick is clear. It barely turns brown before it gets changed again. The transmission fluid is the same way. It is cherry red with no concerns at all. I am pretty sure it may have a shift kit in it because all of the shifts are a solid thump. The suspension is tight as a tick and the tires are brand new. I doubt they have a thousand miles on them. It has the 70's era Western mags that fit the truck perfectly. I looked at the brakes when I put the tires on and they are like new. The only thing that is not shiny new is the fan belts. They look good, but while I was taking pictures, I can't recall that they have been replaced as long as I've had the truck. I haven't detailed the motor. I'm not a shiny motor kind of guy. I have a mile long gravel driveway, I don't see the point. The gas gauge hasn't worked since I've had the truck. I always intended to get a new one, but there are two types; one for a steel tank and one for a plastic tank. They are both available new, but I don't know which one I needed. I recently bypassed the Amp gauge because of what I've read about on all the forums. The wires were kind of brown and the plastic housing was cracked. This has had a switch on the dash for the starter. I guess feeding the ignition while cranking is a common problem. It was there when I got it and maybe once out of a hundred times the truck will crank just fine, but won't start. If I use the switch it makes about a half turn of the motor and it roars right up. I looked at the title for this ad and notice the mileage is marked box C. He wrote 80,000 miles on it and I'm certain he was guessing. It is showing 90808 on it now and I don't think anyone would have a hard time believing it. I don't think I've put a thousand miles a year on it since I've had it. I have a collection of old cars and it is time to let some of them go. This is a wonderful old Dodge. It is a shame I don't drive it more, but I have a '54 street rod Dodge I drive all the time and I shouldn't let this one sit. No Paypal with this auction. Be sure to ask your Wife, Brother, Priest, Guru, or hound dog before you bid. No Nigerian Princes. I want half of the winning bid in five days and the balance in ten days. All funds must clear my bank before the truck leaves my possession. I can store the truck for 60 days after the auction, but then it will have to go to a storage facility.
