For sale is a 1979 Dodge D30 / D300 car hauler truck. This crew / quad cab truck runs excellent and is ready to be driven home. According to the previous owner, it was originally purchased by UHaul to move around trailers. It came factory with a 360 but that was replaced with a solid 1973 440 block (J440 code). The heads were from a 1969 440, however, this has not been verified. The engine was rebuilt years ago and has low mileage, runs strong and smoothly with no ticks or knocks. It sounds healthy. The transmission is a 727 auto.
The truck comes equipped with a dual exhaust, 6 brand new 10-ply tires, and a custom driveshaft. It also has 2 gas tanks, with the passenger side one holding 25-26 gallons, though the driver side tank needs a new electric fuel pump. Both tanks have an electric fuel pump and they pipe into a mechanical fuel pump on the block. The electric pumps are used to initially get gas from the tank to the mechanical pump, and after that they can be turned off. The truck also features a brand new winch mount welded to the top of the bed, ready for a winch to be installed. It has reupholstered seats that are in great shape, locking boxes with keys and manual choke for when it's cold out. Though most of the AC components are installed, some are missing (It was a factory non-AC truck). I was told the heater works but I have not messed around with it. The truck does need some TLC and small repairs such as brake and tail lights that have stopped working recently and the gas gauge doesn't work, but the wiring is easily accessible. It also has electric fans for cooling the transmission and coolant/radiator that can be turned on with switches if needed, and a new battery with a battery kill switch in the engine bay. The cowl vent cover was removed when I purchased it - not sure why but it comes with it. The dash bezel is loose and needs to be screwed back on. Underside has standard surface rust and is SOLID (We only get 5 days of snow a year). Comes with random parts and spare tire as shown.
The truck is perfect for hauling with ramps that come out of the bed for loading, and it has the capability to haul a car on the back of the truck and another car on a trailer behind it with ease. It would also be perfect for throwing a Cummins engine in, but the 440 runs perfectly fine as is. It is a work truck and has been preserved over the years and sat under a carport for the last 25+ years. It was repainted white years ago and has some work truck blemishes here and there, but overall the paint looks good. The truck is rough around the edges but is well preserved and used only occasionally.
The truck is located in Knoxville Tennessee. Clean title in my name. Happy to assist with shipping it if you don't wan to pick it up and drive it home.
