Description for Dodge Charger 1970
You are bidding on a rock solid 1970 Dodge Charger R/T SE. Sold as a California dealer demonstrator car it has been completely restored to almost new condition. The original owners manual and warranty card are in the glove box. If you want a turn-key Mopar driver this is it.The engine is a numbers matching 440 professionally rebuilt bored .040 over with a mild cam. The 'rumpity-rump' idle on a cold start smooths-out nicely in about 60 seconds. The 727 transmission is a column shift and is also completely rebuilt with a shift kit for solid 1-2 and 2-3 gear changes. There are only 1200 miles on engine & tranny but the car is still being driven so the numbers will change slightly. The original cast iron manifolds are included in the sale but have been replaced on the car with Hooker ceramic long-tube headers and Flowmaster dual exhausts. The sound of this combination is amazing. The 4bbl carb is a Holley. Ignition is MSD as well as the distributor. The radiator and heater core were removed cleaned and reinstalled. The car does not overheat and starts runs and drives way better than new. It is a fantastic highway cruiser with the 3.23 rearend gears. Virtually everything on the front-end has been replaced underneath including all tie-rods wheel bearings cylinders calipers brakes hoses seals wheel studs you name it. Same for the rear everything associated with the suspension (except for the leaf springs) brakes and emergency brakes have been replaced. The power brakes are perfect and will absolutely stop on a dime. A line-lock has been added which allows for some easy burnouts without killing the brakes. That being said this feature was only used one time in the past 5 years...to make sure it worked. The Radial T/A's are P215/65 R15 (front) and P275/60 R15 (rear). Not much time is spent in the sun and it shows. The car was painted about 6 years ago in the original FC7 Plum Crazy color and is near perfect almost always stored and covered in the garage and the custom California Car Cover is included in this sale. The sheet metal is believed to be original with tight pinch welds in the rockers and quarters. The black vinyl roof is perfect. The interior is in excellent shape no cracks on the dash pad. The clock has a mind of it's own but can be easily rebuilt. All seats are in very good condition. Carpet and door sills are newer and are in excellent shape. Custom floor mats with "Charger" script in purple are included. The 3-speed windshield wipers work perfectly. The A/C is all there and hooked-up but does not work. I knew that I would never use it anyway but was told the compressor may need to either be charged or rebuilt. The power windows all operate as expected after replacing several regulators (although the rear passenger window still needs an occasional push) and the glass all around is flawless. The tin woodgrain instrument panel was replaced because the original was a mess (but this is also included). You will own the original factory broadcast sheet and fender tag which is rare to have both. Even though is is relatively brand new there is a minor leak from the tranny possibly from the speedometer cable o-ring gasket. Also you sometimes need to start the car in neutral rather than in park but in any case it always starts.I've owned this Mopar for 5+ years and have over $50k invested and have all receipts to back it up. I believe that I have disclosed the good & not-perfect for this car and tried to be as accurate as possible. You are welcome to inspect the car locally or hire an independent to do the job. My name is Kevin so please feel free to email me with your number or any questions at krowlands@zoominternet.net and I will get back to you as quickly as possible. The car is for sale locally so be advised that I reserve the right to end the auction early if it sells locally. Payment for the winning bid must be bank wire transfer or certified check within 7 days. I will help arrange shipping if needed but all shipping costs are the responsibility of the buyer. Finally as you might expect there is no warranty and the car is being sold in "As Is/Where Is" condition.
