Description for Replica/Kit Makes Eagle GT Dino 1974
You're viewing my super rare Eagle GT "Dino" which was a factory built replica based on a Porsche 914 platform. From the research I've done it seems the company built about 12 of these cars in the early 80's, then Ferrari shut them down for too closely resembling the real 246 GT "Dino". The car is very cool and I'm bummed I'm not going to be able to keep it and restore for myself, but we're moving and I won't be able to take it.The fiberglass body overall is in good condition. It's super wide and very low. The targa top is removable. There is one body section behind the driver's side front tire that has broken off, but I have the piece and it's easily able to be put back on properly with fiberglass work. The car has sat outside for years, so the paint is faded and fiberglass is shrinking in some places. Again, not a huge deal for someone that works with fiberglass.
The interior is pure Porsche 914. All gauges, steering wheel, dash, door panels, seats and glass are present. Again, they will need restored.
The floors appear to be very solid. I have never made any attempt to crank the engine as it should be gone thru by a mechanic first. It is powered by a Porsche 914 1.7 liter flat 4 cylinder with original fuel injection setup. Transmission is the preferred 5 speed manual. The car is titled as a 1974 Porsche 914 and resides at my home in Conway, South Carolina. The title is clean, clear, and in my name.
These are VERY rare and you'll have a hard time finding another one for sale anywhere, at any price. This is a rare opportunity to restore this special car and make it your own. It's a pretty straight forward restoration. What you see is what you get. There are no extra parts included.
**The last picture is of what this can look like when you're done. Yes, that is another Eagle GT Dino...not a real Ferrari Dino! I had a fellow eBay'er accuse me that the last pic is of a REAL Dino and that "my car doesn't look nor will ever will look like that". Apparently this "expert" didn't pick up on some VERY obvious cues that they are INDEED the same on both replica examples. That particular replica appears to not have the tail spoiler grafted on for a smoother flow down the rear swoop, and the nose has either been extended on mine or shortened on his...but they're the same Eagle GT kit built on a Porsche 914. Now, if you need me to point out the obvious, here we go: The biggest giveaway that they are the same car built on a 914 are the doors...look at the door handle placement and shape (a real Dino has the door opener at the top of the door by the glass)...these are 914 all day long, the side scoop placement and shape, also both the last pic and mine have the exact same vertical side vents at the "C pillar" (not at all the same as the real Dino), the steeper "A pillar" angle with flatter 914 windshield vs deeper curvy Ferrari windshield, the slanted line/gap where entire front clip flips away from windshield (between front edge of door and wheel opening) which the Ferrari obviously doesn't have, and no bumpers. That is NOT a real Dino.
That being said...yes, they're the same replica. In fact that pic was pulled from a 914 website (914world.com) where a very well know Senior member posted, and I quote: "My Brother found an old pic of a 914 kit car my Dad built, it was called the Eagle GT and was supposed to look like a Ferrari Dino. It was cool." So...Yes, mine CAN look identical to that pic, and NO, it will NEVER look exactly like a real Dino. BUT, it's also not $350-450k+++! It's a very cool replica, built on a 914 chassis which is fun in itself, and will give you lots of smiles for years to come. Simply gorgeous!
